Moment it was announced I said a 4-5-1 would never work. Why the hell change from 4-4-2 which has done so well in recent times. Hell, go back over 18months and check the formations. You will find we basically only get a good result if we play 4-4-2.

Not quite sure what management team was doing in the first half. McLaren was to busy keeping dry to try and sort out the team. Really didnt see him out in the technical box trying to sort it out... and Venables who is getting paid to do nothing... erm I mean be the tactician adviser... well in the first half he sat up in the royalty box, hello we 2-0 down. You should be on the fucking side line helping to reshape the team.

We did not deserve to go through, cracks can not be papered over. Lets hope the FA assess the situation and get on with sorting things out. We need someone that will pick players on current form and not just those with a name.

They stayed afloat from some youth players and youth transfers that weren't made by him. The FA have to take some major blame for this also, we have a old boys club running what is one the most important organisations in England and its just not good enough.

Its not just McClaren that should go, but people like Barwick at the FA too.

As for tonight, what a stupid decision to play 4-5-1 and to also pick a new goalkeeper for such an important game. You have to pick your most experienced players for games like this especially as we had so many 1st choice players out.

We should have played 4-4-2. Whats the point of picking Crouch and not playing your best crosser in Beckham from the start, also Crouch won a lot of headers in the first half but there was no one around him to take advantage. We all saw what happened when we went 4-4-2, Beckham crossed to Crouch and Crouch scored. It should have been that from the start, or at least he should have had the guts to change it after 30 minutes. For all Wright-Phillips qualities, and I do think he is good, he can't cross a ball.

One funny thing tonight, Lampard was man of the match apparently. He took a penalty and did fuck all for the other 89 minutes. Another totally anonymous performance from him. Had to laugh at this.

I'm always surprised when English team drops Beckham. Sure i don't watch all your games, but when i do most of the scoring/scoring chances comes from Beckhams crosses. And he really seems to WANT to play in the England shirt.

Which is a major part of the problem we have at the moment, they start shit and let the other team in, then play hard to get it back (though tonight was mostly luck) then when they are in control again the sit back. They haven't had direction for years.

This result will probably be for the better in the bigger picture, maybe when either McClaren has the balls to do the right thing and resign, or the FA give him the boot (neither of which will happen sadly) we can start again.
Bring in some players that want to play for England, i would rather see us lose but give our best than see us scrape through and play shit, we can't even manage to do that at the moment.
