To be fair to Ovron, if you're on somebodies raid and they tell you to move to a specific point then you should just do it, and if you think the particular command given is unesscary then you should express your concerns in the bg in a civilised manner.

It had been a long day by then, egos were flying everywhere so you can surely forgive Ovrons stern attitude by that point...Ovron from what I can see has always been a fairly decent guy, so lets not go over the top and start calling for his head

This midgard v midgard thing is getting a bit tedious (yet I am also guilty of it at times) but we should try to get along better!!

seemed to work well (only attended ml6)

timing was fine as realm will reset pretty soon with new patch

future such raids should not be so many ml's - why you ask, simple, too many mids attending an ML marathon for a whole day will lead to a frontier overwhelmed by alb/hib

(please dont use the sadly not true reason that the ml BG will then move to restore frontier after raid, lets face it nobody, or certainly not enough, of the BG will stay online after such a long raid to "fight for the realm"

dont get me wrong, hats off for doing it vavi, but please see sense and cut down the number of ml's on the day so your not leaving the realm undefended.

ho hum, as i said no idea if this concern has been voiced already, but had to have my say

(ps. i did read the post about waiting on LD's, yeh its harsh and on a cut size raid say 3-4 ml's it wouldnt be such a prob, but on longer raids i aggree its best to just move on)

I wasn't on the raid, I am merely commenting on his remarks in this forum thread. Saying that there is "no room for people like you in Mid/Pryd" is just sad, and displays a remarkable attitude--as if the guy actually had a say in this matter. After all, this is a thread posted by the raid leader requesting comments on the past ML marathon, and now one of the co-leaders is going to extreme lengths just because his fragile ego was bruised? Especially when the normal retort about leading your own ML raid didn't work.

First of all; thanks for setting this up and running it for us Midgårdare. A great task to take on and kudos to you for asking for constructive criticism.

I got a couple of opinions.
When running such a grand scale raid with so many people involved, it's essencial to use whatever help in information-flow and command line as you can get. From my point of view, you didn't use the cg and "the powah" of the GL's as you should have. Also, not to forget, english as native, is probably a minority on Prydwen, and although most ppl are really good in english, one shouldn't forget the possibilities of misinterpreting at times.
On 4.2 it almost worked as intended, however one group totally missed their assignement. Might have worked better if the information had gone thru CG-channel with confirmation dialog.

You as a raidleader should concentrate on preparing for upcoming steps, that means you shouldn't navigate at all. The sticky should also be a very orientated person, and knowing the whereabouts, not by looking on map and running on loc, but rather by empiric knowledge, to be able to take the safest and fastest way to avoid aggro.

The waiting for ld's is another tough one. Our history on TOA/Mid/Pryd is a disaster. The server has always been the crappiest one around, but nowadays it seems somewhat more stable (i.e. you don't ld most of the bg every half hour) which means that we perhaps have to reset the standards for "waiting-for-ld's".

Another thing is opting special groups for certain tasks. You did fine on 2.10, but in the task of running along the stygian river, your group got wiped twice. Those crocs are nasty even if they only con yellow. You should perhaps have assigned it to a better opted group, or set up a new one with max speed and dps needed. The information during that phase really was lousy and perhaps that's why your co-leader went over the edge a slight bit.

As for trying to run things the military way - do what your told no matter how stupid/ridicilous/non-important it is or get out of here... This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. If you're in a raid, you should follow the commands of your leaders, that's not negotiable. But the leaders should NOT give orders just for the sake of giving orders for ppl to obey. Ay, you probably gonna get mad at me now Ovron, but I still like you tons *smoooch*.

In management classes in the military academy here in Sweden, officers-to-be used to have amongst their student literature two books, one is titled "Learning women how to boss men" and the other one is called "Learning men how to lead women". One shouldn't generalize to much, but a little of both would probably suit both men and women and surely DAoC-ers.

That's about what comes to mind right now - if I come to think of something more, I'll be back. =)

Just a thing to add i said we wiped ones, wasnt to yellow cons. it was to a pack of followers, all purple con, ive leaded ml4 a lot now and i always runned that way, never seen em there, so i was suprised to all of a sudden got jumped by them. by group was fairly opted, but my healer was steaky for zerg and with him my shammy + a warrior went ld during that step and didnt come back, that are some thing why it went slow. so if we are with 5 ppl its easy to get a wipe by 6-8 purps. i died like uberly fast since i got first aggro with my runie :s. Athe second time i said a wipe i was jk only i died in front of the stateu.

we were wiped once by the crocodile minions which Vavi ran into (he was prolly doing /sends to sumone which it can happen to everyone). Thanks to Ulas for the rezz altho u're getting slow m8.. ;4)
other than that and a couple of other mishaps (ppl afk etc), I think the raid went rather well under the circumstances. 110+ mids half of em afk and not unsticking when told so repeatedly etc. not easy to handle tbh.

U know I think u should be alot harder with ld's and afk'ers Vavi, but it's prolly for the better.. Think it'd save us alot of time tho, but ppl would be pissed.
I'd be pissed off at afk:ers and would eventually start kicking ppl not responding etc. tough but fair IMO.

as for the criticism of Ovron.. bugger off and leave him alone! OVRON ROCKS! :4D

I was trying to be really, really nice about that awfully long waiting the zerg had to withstand at Atum pyramid, and you focus on me saying you got wiped twice when it actually was once. Go figure...
You and your group were constantly doing something during that time - the zerg had nothing to do but stand still. Hail to the zerg for it's patience.

You don't have to defend anything. Things can go wrong and things screw up at times. And I'm not that sure as you are, that ppl afk-ing blew things on this one, to be frank, I don't think ppl afk'd in the extend you make it sound.

As for my criticism of Ovron - I dearly hope he can take that!

all and all i would have to say that it was a nice raid. thx for making the marathon. concentrated pain > dragged out pain (by far). can't really say that i enjoyed the raid since all MLs except for 4.2, killing Vezual and killing Draco (cause then you're done with it! ) is mostly just a pain in the ass. but this raid was barable the worst thing about the raid is all the minileaders saying ''KILL NOW!'' and bitching about the steps (yes, this is even worse than the LD's, lagg and the steps themselves).

i do think you should write more information in /bu about the steps, why we are stopping, what we are waiting for, etc.

-lotto, if you do lotto immediatly? keys ofc, lotto allways, all items whit and only gl:s!!!, rogs, scrolls anything.

All that shows is a lack of leadership ability, and probably the reason why you'll struggle to ever get through 6 ML's in a day.

As for your slandering of DHs... god forbid that guild should actually think they have the right to stand up for how they believe the alliance they're members of should operate... how dare they! Seems to me you've got an axe to grind just because people spoke up against your frequent spam.

aye lets try and pin this on one thing and push off the subject onto a useless alliance, the only reason the alliance remains is lack of options for guilds to leave and if you think holding an alliance meeting everytime i tried to chat to other mids and have a laugh, then thats your problem not mine, this is a mmorpg, god forbid talking to anyone or having some kind of community. you would really be supprised by the amount of pm's i got for some of the things i said about the so called leadership on the alliance chat, but thats all i have to say on that matter
