Unfortunately yes :( Our Scottish hero has unfortunately been killed along with 3 others including his 5 year old son.

The crash is merely a mile away from where i live, its a sad evening for Scotland, and rally driving.

Yeah terrible news about a legend in WRC racing, Pretty much cant believe it, my thoughts are with the rest of his family.

Great guy, what he done for the reputation of WRC was fantastic, pretty sure he will be missed by alot of people and not just his loved ones.

Horrible. My brother knew him to say hi to, nothing too deep, but he said he was a lovely lad.

OMG, so sad. Great driver and did so much for the sport. Poor family, to loose a son as well. Not something those left will ever recover from.

Thoughts with the family.

The one in development will more than likely ship as a tribute, after that it would be in bad taste to continue using his name.

What's going to happen to his games now?

RIP

Cmon really, who gives a crap about the game, its just a bunch of friggin pixels on a screen. 4 people are dead, and 2 of them were just starting out lifes little journey.....it's a sad waste of life.

From all the news they are saying he was a good of a pilot as he was a driver.

Just need to remember helicopter want to crash it is unnatural for them to fly.

ProDrive team boss Dave Richards and his wife survived unhurt when their helicopter crash-landed in Essex, just a day after Richards' friend Colin McRae, the former World Rally Cchampion, was killed in a helicopter crash in Scotland.

Police said Richards and his wife "walked out of the wreckage" near North Weald Airfield and were treated for shock by paramedics, according to a report on the BBC website.

Richards is chief executive of Prodrive which runs the Subaru world rally team and was in charge when McRae won his world rally title.

Richards and his wife were returning to their home at Banbury, Oxfordshire, after attending the Belgian Formula One Grand Prix.

He had earlier led the tributes to McRae who was killed, along with his son Johnny and two other people, when his helicopter crashed yesterday near his home in Lanarkshire.

"Colin had a competitive spirit like I've never seen in any other individual in my life that could say 'I can do anything'," said Richards.

"I was talking to my son last night. When Colin was world champion Jamie was 14, and he remembers getting on the back of a jet-ski with him, going ski-ing with him.

"Anything like that Colin was up for it, and you could throw any car at him in any recognised motorsport and he would do well.

"I remember when I put him in a Formula One car at Silverstone and how great he was in that straight away.

"It could have been a sports car, touring car, Paris-Dakar, you name it. It's unusual to call somebody a legend, but it's very appropriate for Colin."

That is just to close.

no way will i ever own a helicopter... and fly it my self! or fly in it!

thank god he and everyone was ok tho.

Lame comment tbh

R.I.P - Colin McRae & the other three - very sad to hear :(

How is it lame, people die all the time, just because Colin Mcrae could drive well doesn't make him any more deserving of my sympathy than anyone else that dies.

It actually worse news that 2 children were involved.

Ofcourse but couldn't you be sad for both Colin McRae and family as all the rest that die?

That way you're doubly affectionate.
