Coke & Diet Coke!

Being the naturally healthy person I am (yeah, right) I decided to try out Diet Coke instead of Coke as obv. no sugar etc.

However, upon checking the label, I notice the sugar has simply been replaced by sweeteners & that the fkin fizz on the diet coke is even worse!! than original coke.

Thus, can someone clarify for me just how much less sugary diet coke actualyl is! ^^

Diet coke has no sugar in it, thus it is ~1.5kcal per 250ml serving. Which saves your teeth and from the sugar rush.

However it also has sweeteners as you said, including aspartame and whatnot. Whether you take heed of the warnings is up to you.

Personally i just drink water most of the time.

Diet coke is much worse for you, your body can process sugars easily but artificial sweetners are something new and the body doesn't really know what to do with the stuff as it has no nutritional value. So your organs generally have to filter the sweetners out so it can remove them from your system, the kidneys were not designed to process this crap and it can cause problems if you ingest large amounts on a daily basis over a long period of time. I am speaking from personal experience here as well, I recently saw a nephrologist (kidney disorder specialist) for my ongoing blood pressure problems and he basicially said that no one knows the long term damage caused by these sweetners but that he is seeing more and more cases of people with kidney disfunction who have been long term heavy users of diet drinks.

It does seem there hasn't been an serious research into this so far because the drinks industry is so massive and what isn't good for business isn't usually a priority.

My advice to anyone who is thinking about drinking this crap, don't do it. Better to take the calorie hit and let your body do something it is designed to to which is process sugars rather than risk the unknown by drinking diet drinks.

Well, i've been drinking "diet" stuff for all my life, and no problems here. And this from a 4/year doctor visits and extensive checking up every time.

Been using aspartame probably 10 times more then a normal person. Use it in coffe, tea, etc. Thoise lil pilltype thingies you get. Diabetic, so it's rather a natural choice 'cause it doesn't pump your sugarlevels.

So the aspartame scare? Well, i think it's just that, a scare. But everyone can believe what they will.

I personally can't stand normal coke, it's too sweet and makes you feel a bit "ill" 'cause of the sugar.

I used to drink a fuck load of diet drinks. Started getting side effects, like dizziness, "out of body feelings" and other shit. Stopped drinking them so much (maybe 1 can a week now) and I feel a lot better.

My teeth are also fucked from all the enamel erosion fizzes cause. I drink a lot of squash/water/milk now and feel a lot better.

Unless your diabetic then drinking diet coke really is no better for you.
If you don't want the crap that comes with normal coke drink water or your choosing to drink something just as unhealthy but that tastes like crap!

diet coke is much worse like many mentioned due to the un-naturalness of teh sweeteners, regular coke isnt exactly healthy too. Best choice is to drink mineral water or natural juices.

over-weight middle aged women buying a large diet coke at work (i work in a cinema) because they "really must watch (their)my waistline" is so funny that i actually struggle not to crack up quite often.

if you want to drink healthily, don't drink coke... full stop! diet coke tastes like ass anyway. water, squash or milk. even juice is loaded with sugar most of the time anyway.

Yeah, sugar amount destroys your teeth. It's why I only drink it during college. Kills my sugar craving and bootstarts my brain. It works (Well, then there's the eventual fat gain)
