*not that I ever have. He's too much of a **** not to take offence ;)

cheeky scouselet :)

It has turned out quite well imo :)

Reasonable and comprehensible enough (I hope) for everyone to understand.
T&C documents tend to turn into wads of legalese even at best while the "Code" Game has presented to us remains nicely clear and concise.

But it won't make a blind bit of difference...

It may serve it's purpose well enough. People holding to the Code is only part of it. The last thing anyone would want is for this place to decend into cushy goodygoodyness, but there are now (more) clearly defined guidelines as to where the fun stops. Grey areas have been minimised.
Even so, you still have to use your loaf a bit don't you. People tend to have a feeling for what will draw the attention of Gods and other Superfolk and what won't. Just behave yourself within reason and there is nothing you, I or anyone else has to worry about. Calling people a slice of womens naughty bits may well show up as *'s but colourful language isn't abolished. We can all gripe about patches not working to our hearts content. Thus spaketh the Code.

'Descend into'?

Some might say it's a bit late for that...

you know what I mean. remember when TTD and DBs got fed up with the shiteness and cranked down the tolerance? All the Mods had to work with new rules and many a quiet word was had and some were banned. You should recall that in the week or so after people were frighteningly polite, like the forum had been steeped in prozac. That's not real, but neither is the constant sniping. Imo we can use the tools we're given to find a balance.

I remember it, and I also remember the forum being a much more interesting and friendlier (yes, friendlier) place. However, I won't harp on about it because it might be seen as propaganda.

Haha, my mom works for the council and wrote an email to someone in 'said place' and asked me why it got filtered by the council email system... I just said 'think about the word' ...

If you cant say it to your mother maybe it should be banned.. think about that !

Sucks if you live there tho ;)

Who honestly swears in front of their mother, regardless of age? Even if I was fifty I wouldn't say shit to her...

I too do remember matey, but things like forums grow and change. Some people leave and new people arrive. Such is life, as Will would say. You can't make everybody happy all of the time, but some people happy some of the time is a good enough score for me.

I do sometimes, she can just about handle it....although the C word would most probably get me a good smack ;)

With the accent around here when we say couldn't too fast it sounds like that word we can't say. Often got a slap for no reason when I was little because of that.

Could we have the other racist ones taken out too? :(

The others would end up causing S****horpe-like holes in words.

Not that S-Thorpe matters, but i don't think there are many words with the exact same lettering as the ones i'm thinking of. :(

The c word shouldnt be banned. Mabe I swear too much and have a poor grasp of vocabulary, but I for one use it. I know a lot of people that do, including women. Maybe instead of filtering it out completly, and resulting in silly cases were part of a word containing it is blanked out, you could make it an option that you can see it if you choose to.

Now, I see you mention line by line story building as acceptable. Were would this class the priate thing? That was a theme for many users, and the majority (which less face it is what counts) enjoyed and participated. It may have acrossed threads, but it was building an overall scenario. If that was repeated today under the coc, would it reult in warnings and bans?

I do all the time, she swears at me too, but saying the 'c' word just seemed plain wrong.

Its deff a bit more taboo than most swearwords, even though it means basically the same thing as 'twat' yet that it used as if it wasnt a swearword at all.

It's really odd but why is it most of the nastiest sounding swear words are female orientated?

Cnut
Twat
Bitch
Slut
Cow

Much nastier than

Bastard
Wakner
Tosser
Knob
etc

You do realise that mis-typing words to get around the filter is against the CoC, don't you?

CoC, also sounds like "cock" which is ironic.

Stand up wherever you are and shout out:

"Oh No! I've nearly violated Barry's CoC!"
