Don't bother.

Turns out it's just a bog standard godzilla film, nothing more interesting to it. Very boring, not particularly well acted and absolutely no explanation as to where the monster comes from. Someone on the internets made a little picture of what'd be a far superior monster. Here's hoping for the sequel:

ECA smells of wee. Do you really want to take film advice from someone who clearly has bladder control issues?

Don't waste your money folks!

Load of shite I agree. If theres a sequel or two explaining more from other perspectives, fine, I'll watch them, and yes I know about the viral marketing stuff.

As a film on it's own, nath pretty much got it spot on.

It's godzilla vs blair witch, just because you can stereotype it doesnt mean its poo :p

Its watchable but its not an oscar winner, what else is there to say.

Plenty worse films released lately.
I just think this got overhyped.

I liked it but I hated the Blair witch project.

The shaky cam approach added to the confusion but heightened suspense imo.

The monster was scary unlike Godzilla where you just see a CGI effect this felt tangibly real, again because the cam made you feel part of the action.

I dont smell of wee.

As entitled to an opinion as you all are I think you're all a bunch of miserable old sods. I just watched it and I thought it was fantastic. I just wish people would switch off the real world when they watch films like this and take it in as a a fictional story, because it sounds to me like you didn't like it because of the publicity and hype. That's like not liking a band just because they've become popular.

Well not quite - the publicity and hype led me to believe the film would be a lot more interesting than it was. Had I known
that it was just a "omg big monster lets get away!" rather than something with a bit more depth
I might not have been as disappointed.

might want to try watching the film again because you've got it a wee bit wrong with your basic description of the plot there. I think there was more than enough depth for what the film was.

It really does sound to me like people don't want to like it because they fear it makes them look as if they're following a crowd after all the hype. The popular band theory still stands.

I couldn't really care less what everybody else thinks.

For instance, I think Titanic is a great film, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was utter shite.

Also, I was extremely upset when that kid got killed by bees in My Girl. So there.

That quote works both ways, people feel compelled to say they like it because of all the hype.

I've not seen it yet so have no opinion ;)

That and Watership down were perhaps the 2 most upsetting things in my childhood. Maybe i should have had an alcoholic dad who used to beat me.

Just to be different I neither loved nor hated Cloverfield i just left the cinema feeling rather ambivelant and somewhat sea sick.
