J J Abrams, anything he touches turns to crap. Next up for him is Star Trek, should be the final nail in the coffin with him at the helm. :(

Tokyo under attack is old, New York has not had that many. Only ones I can think of are:

King Kong, Godzilla (hollywood movie), Ghostbusters, The winged serpent.

Tokyo was under attack every Saturday morning!

I heard that movie should be quite hard to see for many, making people motion sick due to the camera being handheld throughout the entire movie

What I don't get is: If a giant monster is ripping through the centre of New York, then why don't they just send I Joan Rivers to talk it into submission?

Or pit it against a horde of Jewish mothers, their invincible.
"Oye, does he call his mother anymore, no, I spent 9 months bringing him into this world, the least he could do is call, too busy with his new job and his new wife, god knows what the children will be like, and then..."
Dunno about you guys but i'd be waving the white flag at '9 months'.

Should be interesting, atleast a new way to look at the monsterbashcity idea. The whole handheld etc.

How good it is, will know after i see it.

I love that movies are going back to the 80-90minute lengths. Sure, at home you can do a 10 hour marathon of films, but when you go out, i feel like anything over the 120 line is a bit, well...let's say it like this, during a movie i like to drink and eat, but if you watch a 2.5h flic that drags along and gulp some soda, the end is gonna make you sit at the edge of your seat.

me = tit

the reason why the frikkin name seemed familiar (and this has bugged me all day...) is because i saw the damn trailers for the damn movie on the news there were all those teasers a coupla months ago. I say it again for those that may not be aware of this, i am infact, a prawn!

rofl @ the jewish mother impression there Binky, i think youll make a great mum one day.

and yep agree with Toht there i was getting sooo sick of every sodding movie i saw being an "epic" more like a sleeping tablet tbh..and i generally need to pee every 2.5 hrs so if its a long film i either miss bits or end up with an sploaded bladder.

Yep, my first novel will be about the rise of the Second British Empire and will be based on the invasion and assimiliation of the United States into Greater Britain.

that youtube clip is great :)

anyway, just got back from seeing the film, i thought it was really good, if a little nausiating. The camera work takes some getting used to, but it works well for the film, and it does create some good suspense and tension. Quite impressed really, not an award winner in terms of story, but it's entertaining the way they play it out.

the film was ok, agree with the others that the camera work is a little strange at first but you get used to it.

the train station scene with the night vision was cool

As for the film i thought it was something different, the acting wasnt too bad and it was fun to watch.

The story should of been a little more grim though overall, lost it's edge after an hour in.

I enjoyed it, my gf and i'd say the majority of the people in the cinema were very vocal about absolutely hating it.

Alot were complaining it was a waste of money very loudly.

Personally I quite enjoyed it, not sure if that says more about my tastes then theirs.

I normally hate shakey camera scenes but it wasn't so bad in this film and did add a certain feeling of being there, and agreed with the above, the night vision moments were probably the scariest and most inventive.

Though the actual film monster doesn't look that much like the graphic representation.

Would also be quite curious to learn how a giant nuke-proof monster the size of a skyscraper managed to sneak into the middle of Manhatten completely undetected until it finally decided to start knocking buildings over out of boredom?
I'd of thought after 9/11 especially it would be rather difficult to sneak anything bigger then a lorry into the city by land, sea or air.

I believe the general indication is that the sea is most likely, however if a submarine can't sneak in i'm pretty sure that creature couldn't.

Also bugger off about dodgy camera work, it's SUPPOSED to be like that! Duh!

Well one of the first reports was an oil tanker knocked over so i'd imagine it sneaked in via the sea since Manhattan is an island, not sure about depth however!

As to why it started destroying shit? Meh, doesn't need a reason really!

Wasn't after an explanation as to why it started destroying shit, what I meant was how come nobody in probably the edgiest and most nervous city in America noticed it until it actually got into the city.

Surely they have sonar/radars looking out for anything as big if not bigger then a submarine approaching the country from sea?
