Clipping Range

Imagine the clipping range being increased...

Imagine you could see the alb zerg at amg from levi ridge? imagine standing at a keep seeing a massive horde of mid roleplayers, coming to take their keep back.

If the clipping range was increased you would be able to avoid zergs or certain (fotm) grps before they litterally stand inside you as it is now :)

Would that ever be possible to do in DAoC ?, or does anyone know if they actually are gonna change it, i.e. in ToA ?

Doubt it'll ever be possible with the crap engine :( Or well, it could be, but 0.1 frames/sec is kinda unplayable :p

It would be great. :) And yes, even if the zerg can see you, a zerg is a much larger entity than a small FG, so they'd have difficulties spotting you. Perhaps it would also mean zergs would easily break up as different parts of it see different things. Oh, and you could certainly make use of the terrain to avoid being spotted.

Anyway, imagine taking Bledmeer and then sending a scout to the highest mountain around. "Hmm, looks like 5-6 FGs incoming from Svasud, and some from Yggdra -- damn, fog moving in!"

it would be good but the shitty engine would explode, a special RA for scouts to increase ranged visability would be a good thing tho even it is just showed stik men far behind normal view, maybe scouts could actually scout :)

I think Hatts has found a brand new collection of images to use in all his posts.

This is a better idea, it would actually make Scout classes useful :)

I might even roll one if this was to come.

Quite funny that I manage to make it into peoples sigs with that quote considering,

1) I don't play a savage, so guess again :)

2) It was a reply to stallion who kept crying cause JH killed his groups BMs after first killing two of their healers (drood and warden). Regardless of what the hib whinies think, it is a reasonable tactic to save your own healers when you've reduced the enemys healingpower by a significant ammount.

3) Even more funny that Stallion whined about this and has the same quote in his sig, considering just last night that same group with xedd etc (the bm JH killed) all assisted for 45 seconds straight on Mumin as their first target while the rest of JH killed off the entire hib group :). They obviously didn't understand the point of 2).

As for the clipping range, there's a reason it is the way it is. Daoc could never handle it cause the number of objects you have to draw increases with the square of the clip range. If you thought zerg lag was bad now imagine it 10 times worse, thats what you'd get if you just increased clip range by 3x.
