out of curiosity would you say a BH would heal better than a sorc.

maybe I shoudve worded it differently, for example as a sorc healing I found my heals were better in pvp than pve; and I ran out of mana/force quite quickly on boss fights even if I was just using the Static barrier and heals. I think my heals were better in pvp merely because I had some crits that were 2k-4k were are raids were 1.5k-2.5k, no group heal either which wasn't bad but having to heal another as well as a tank in an instance was a bit awkward :D

From what I have read, Sorc actually will be the best healer because you have bigger starting manner and a constant level of mana recovery.. and if you make sure you got plenty of the stat that dictates regeneration it is apparently difficult to actually go OOM.

I liked the lightening ability though that gave +30% regeneration. If i was getting low on manner i would get that stacked up (+10% per attack stacks upto 3 times) and it would quickly recover the mana to heal.
Mind you, didnt get too high a level and not going to play sorc to start with unless guild needs it.

just wish i could log into the website on the guild portion. Logs in, but then says im not logged in even though it says i am if i click login again. So cant see private forums :(

2 good points, and I didn't buy pots/items which I probably should have done(if they had any mana/wisdom bonuses) was always to busy exploring etc :) + i was training more to boost static barrier and heal cast time reductions, as that barrier was handy for absorbing dmg.

Bounty Hunter mana is quite good aswell, only 100 but you can vent 66 of that away instantly with a cooldown + energy(bh mana) regens rather rapidly, I was able to chain heal a boss with 16k health to death without ever going out of energy while tanking it at the same time.

Why do people have to speculate on specs and builds in a game months from release :(

Like the problem with MMO's these days is people have half the content explored in Beta, why can't we all just fumble blindly into mmo's like we used to :(

Heh it starts next week and you hit level 10 very quickly so its nice to have an idea of what your aiming for.

No doubt i will change my spec about a gazillion times tho :p

Yeah, i can make a gay sith, or a lesbian twilek, but since there's no robots, my dream of a kickass pink bountyhunter robot with pink lasers is a dream no longer viable

Anyone have a suggestion for a powertech tank build?

If you want a raid/heavy pve tank build its going to be 31+ in Shield tech really then personally I'd go 7 points into Pyrotech to get the gyroscopic alignment jets ability that vents 8 heat every time your stunned/knocked down etc.

I had a look at it, and I don't understand it very well. There's good defensive stuff at the top of EACH of the trees. The trees don't appear to be differentiated very much.

I would not be at all surprised if, although you end up with different bonuses and such, your overall damage to defense ratio ends up very similar to everybody else's regardless of what choices you make (before gear).

Perhaps this is an effort by the devs to stop people from gimping themselves?

Dont know about BH - but their is massive difference between trees in the assassin line. Completely no chance of tanking with 2 of the 3 trees. can only do it with a single tree (effectively) because of all the bonuses that the tanking tree brings.

The shield tech line is all about increasing the chance of your shield generator blocking attacks and to increase the % of damage it absorbs when it does block which is the core tank mechanism in SWTOR. Un-specced you have 35% chance of shielding in your shield stance - specced that rises to 47%. Theres also the nice ability linked to sucessfully shielding that dumps heat and the 31 point ability that does damage and dumps heat - should mean you have pretty decent energy regen during a fight.

I dont think you can really gimp yourself completely as a tank even if you put nothing in it - might not want to raid tank without higher shield % but everything else will probably be fine so experiment - can always respec :)

Thanks for this, I suspected it might work like that from the descriptions, but it does sound too good to be true (like those 1 second abilities look too BAD to be true).

It looks like a small organised group will be the best way to win PvP, as ever.

Absolutely - theres some tools for a really evil stealth gang too - smuggler/agent can spec healing in their stealth specialised class so you can have a stealth group with healing/support + front end dps burst specced guys + DOT specialists and a shedload of CC - I can hear the whines already once a competent group or two adopts those tactics...

What's the deal with damage sharing? Is that still in? And is it only for the trooper/bh?

Its a tank ability as far as i know, and assassins can get it as well. Infact i think it works whilst staying in stealth as well (or it did do - lol).

Here's the Vanguard version - gets it automatically at level 14:

Guard
Instant
Range: 30m
Guards the target while it remains within 15 meters. While active, the target takes 5% less damage and generates 25% less threat. In addition, 50% of all incoming damage from enemy players is transferred back to you. Requires Ion Cell.

The 5% damage absorption is nice - tanks cross guarding each other comes to mind...

You cant cross guard last i knew... and also someone that is guarding cant be guarded.

So you cant guard and be guarded at the same time (nor can multiple people guard one person)

Star Wars: The Old Republic preps for guild imports, server list takes shape

Sci-fi, Launches, News items, Star Wars: The Old Republic

At 7:00 a.m. EST tomorrow morning, the coveted early access invitations will be sent out for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Some of them, anyway. (Some players will have to wait a little bit longer.) If you're in one of the many guilds that prepared and recruited prior to the game's launch via the on-site recruitment feature, you're also in line to start in on the early guild deployment, which is outlined in detail on the official site. Long story short, you'll be given your guild's server assignment, and if you're unhappy with it, you're going to have to start up on a different server rather than using the automated joining.

Unfortunately, players aren't being given a full preview of servers ahead of time, but based on the deployment messages, a list is taking shape over on Ask a Jedi. The list is, of course, not absolute -- it's simply what servers are known that have been passed along -- but it's certainly extensive, with several different PvE, PvP, and RP servers for both US coasts and Europe. Keep checking back for more information, and keep your eyes on your mailbox early tomorrow morning.[/url]
