Well I have an appointment at the docs tonight to decide if I need to have the old fellow lopped off.

I asked a few guys on comms last night about the whole experience and it all seemed bad. So can any of you fine folks inform me of any positives/negatives you may or may not have suffered as an effect of this very sensitive operation.

Many Thanks!!

It'll be fine. They do it with a cheese grater. It's very sharp.

There was something about this on This Morning once, the comment the doctor made stuck in my mind "its like the dog has had hold of it for a few weeks after" is what he said.

Lester is your best bet for advice, he was de-robed so to speak.

It's fine when you're young (a sproglet). I have a cheese free knob as a result. A cousin had it done in his teens though and he was in serious painage.

Good luck.

By all accounts he was in megapain for ages, wasnt easy for him to walk!

So do I, I do this thing called "washing"; its surprisingly effective and requires no surgery at all!. Never understood circumcision; unless you have a medical condition or are part of one of the other two main desert skyfairy-bothering cults it just seems to be a way for American doctors to separate parents from (even more of) their money.

I don't suggest you have this done unless its for medical reasons. Having worked in recover and theatres I have seen a few of these being done, and have looked after 'em post op. So here a few things you need to know.
1. Yes, its going to hurt, and yes its going to look pretty nasty for about a month. Theres no getting away from that. However, take every kind of pain relief you're given for as long as you're told to, and don't even think about having sex or a wank for a month. No wearing of tight trousers or boxers either.
2. Understand that a lot of people are going to be seeing and touching your todger....men and women. And yes, the nurses all understand that sometimes hard ons are involuntary and we won't be embarassed by it, I promise.
3. Don't be fooled by the lack of pain immediatly after surgery. They do something called a ring block whilst you're under, they inject the base of the penis with local anaeasthetic so the whole thing is numb for 4-6 hours. When it starts to wear off, you'll get pins and needles in your todger....not something I have ever experienced, but I can imagine it feels pretty odd!
4. you'll need dressing changes afterwards, done by your GP or a district nurse, so thats more people seeing and touching your bits. Just so you know.
Any more info you want or need. pm me.

A bloke above where I used to work ran the Anti Circumcision Corporation or something like that. He said there is never a need for it, if its too tight then there is exercises you can do to stretch the skin, it takes a few months he said but it works.

He told me some awful things about female circumcision, I had to ask what that involves and unfortunately he told me "they slice off all the loose bits" he said. Imagine having that done in say Africa without drugs. He also said there was a tribe in Africa where all the young females drowned themselves rather than have it done.

What trem says about female circumcision is absolutely true, hence why its now know as FGM or female genital mutilation, and is illegal in this country.
However, what he says about male circumcision is NOT true. Sometimes it is completely medically necessary.....and thats something the Doc will help you decide.

Real good information there thanks, I will get back to you after I have seen the doc tonight.

With regards to why I am having it done, the last couple of month I have witnessed it getting tighter and thicker at the end, I am at the point where an erection can be painful. In order to clean myself I have to split myself to bits just to get in there. and once hes back getting it back over the lip is a mission in itself.

I didn't say it luv, a world renowed expert on the subject said it (he speaks all around the world at medical conventions, the last time I saw him he had just come back from America and Canada).

I was merely repeating what I was told.

You mean phimosis?

Alternative Phimosis Treatment said:
Stretching of the foreskin can be accomplished manually. Skin that is under tension expands by growing additional cells. A permanent increase in size occurs by gentle stretching over a period of time. The treatment is non-traumatic and non-destructive. Manual stretching may be carried out without the aid of a medical doctor. The stretching can also be accomplished with balloons placed under the foreskin skin under anaesthesia,[18]or with a tool.[19] The tissue expansion promotes the growth of new skin cells to permanently expand the narrow preputial ring that prevents retraction.

Phimosis yes, but there are plenty of other reasons to have your helmet trimmed, and they wouldn't do it without exploring all the other options first.

I have only known one adult have this done and he told me that although he "had" to have it done, it was a very painful experience. He was 23 at the time and it was a few years ago so maybe methodology has changed a little.

I had a circumcision when I was 24. I needed to have it because of a combination of phimosis and repeatedly tearing frenulum. The consultant who examined me gave me two options,
1) Have the foreskin loosened to that it could be retracted.
2) Have a circumcision along with a frenuloplasty.

After considering the options, I went for the circumcision as a long term fix.
When you're an adult, the operation is usually done under general anaesthetic and they give you a penile block so you don't feel anything for a number of hours afterwards (a local in the base of your penis). The frenuloplasty was reconstructive surgery for my frenulum... yes I have had plastic surgery on my penis! :)

I don't remember being in too much pain at all with it. Yes I had to walk carefully for a week or so, and nookie was off the menu for just over a month. At the end of the day, the whole experience was positive for me because I finally got rid of a problem that had been getting me down for years.

One thing you will notice is that your glans seems too sensitive for a few months. After a while, it kinda dries out and loses a lot of the sensitivity. The plus side to that is that you find you can last longer than you could before the op. :D

yay another good post :)

I cant see this problem going away, and Ill be damned if I have to stretch my skin with a balloon for the rest of my days.

With a little luck no knife will ever go near my todger

Had mine done when I was 17, so an adult (physically at least). I had phimosis, and the decision was taken by the doctor at first sight. In retrospect I would have still gone with it even if I was aware of stretching options.

No problems for me, and painwise not a drama at all. I did get a hard on the next day, which was an experience, but otherwise fine. I guess that time (I'm 42 now) has dimmed the memory of pain, but I wouldn't worry too much.
One upside is that it's an interesting conversation piece with the wimmin (as I recall, before I was banned from talking to them) and some will even want a go...

One thing to consider, is that it seems to be hereditary, as my dad had to have his done when he was 50, and my son (12) last year.

My son was awake about an hour after theatre, and in great pain for about 2 hours before the painkillers properly kicked in. One complication he had was that he'd had quite a lot of infections and the foreskin had stuck to the glans in several places (something to do with scar tissue), so a couple of days after the op, his whole glans was covered in a scab. This was of great concern as we immediately thought he'd got necrosis or something, but the doc reassured us and a couple of weeks later he was right as rain.

Go for it. Just make sure to tell the wimmin to use hand cream, or at least start on an upward stroke ;)
