Anyone else watch this?
It had been on my "I'll get around to it at some point" list and then recently I chomped through the whole of series 1 and now onto the second episode of series 2.
Filled with references to sci fi and other general media I'm finding it really enjoyable and a nice antidote to some of the heavier stuff floating around - I watched House of Saddam the other night and though fairly gripping stuff it did leave me kind of drained by the end of it.
They seem to have got a lot of things right in Chuck. It ambles along effortlessly combining a lot of action, humour and engaging characters. Joshua Gomez is absolutely stand-out brilliant. Adam Baldwin is great, even if he's basically playing Jayne but this time in a suit and perhaps slightly smarter.
I had a quick nosey around the intarweb and noticed that its had very mixed reviews and yet I can't remember the last time I laughed so much during 'action' since Firefly. A lot of it may not be new, some of it is downright clichéd but the mix seems to work really well. In Chuck Versus The Crown Vic you absolutely know what is going to happen when that missile is in the air but its also excruciatingly funny when it finally does happen.
Looking forward to watching the rest of series 2.
