Originally it was going to be a treck across europe but the guy i was going with dropped out (boo) so instead it turned into a visit to malta

Soo finally got around to uploading some pics and figured i would post them here too for those that care and others who just want to click things (we all like clicking :D).
Pics i can upload here are rather limited as i dont want to post pics of others without permission

What can i say the place was amazing, i would go as far as to say Malta is the better version of spain (oddly enough there was a huge spanish population there)

We stayed in a nice town called Buggiba which was the touristy part of town really as there were alot of british pubs, as well as resteraunts, bars, couple of small clubs etc..
The hotel was pretty awful as far as hotels go, but it was situated in a great place so we stayed there anyway, 3 star but i would say it was closer to 2
We went half board so we wouldnt have to search for brekkie and dinner everyday but shops, bars, resteraunts were only 5 mins walk away

We only had time to visit about 4 of the 8 beaches as we were only there for the week, apologies for the poor photography i just point and click then hope for the best

Buggiba Bay, right next to our hotel so easy access it was a rocky beach so we didnt really go there more than once. Unfortunately i only have the 1 night shot in this camera (other one's USB cable got left behind)

The problem with this beach however is that the waves are VERY strong and there is not enough beach to do much other than sun-bathing.
So unless you are a strong swimmer it's not really recommended as the coast is literally rocks, i managed to cut my hand on one on the way out of the water which wasnt pleasant

In the evening we went to a couple of clubs in buggiba but to be honest they werent anything special, mostly toursists who didnt want to stray too far from their hotels. There were more kareoke bars than i could count if that is your sort of things, and alot of stuff to amuse kids if you have them (water parks open until about 9/10pm bear in mind it was about 26oC during the night, cinema, resteraunts, minature fun fairs etc..)
However it is WELL worth the trek to Paceville which is where the best nightlife is (see later)

The rest we had to get to using bus, the bus service is hopeless if you want to get somewhere on time as they seemed to arrive whenever they felt like
and each bus route had different times for when the last bus arrives/leaves so i would strongly advise catching the one before the last one if you are waiting.
After 11 the night service starts and your bus pass no longer works, but transport is dirt cheap 1 euro 16 for anywhere so not a huge issue, busses stop working at 3am

Next best beach was Golden Bay, the water was nice but a bit grotty nearer the beach (seaweed, sand, etc...) but the water was reasonably warm. You could do stuff like parasailing and jetskiing here

this seemed to be the most touristy beach apltly illustrated by a busload of russians coming onto the beach singing the russian national anthem. They did set up goals and volley ball nets though so it was rather fun in the end :)

Golden bay also had the best toilet and chaning facilities by far (free aswell)

The next best beach was Mellieha Bay, white sand beach with clear water. It also seemed to be the favourite for the locals as the beach was packed out
This is probably the best beach we went to, there was a fair bit of shallow water but also had a deep end loads of room but the toilets and showers were truely awful.
However Mellieha had the most shops etc, and you could buy tickets to the evening BBQ on the beach.
THere seemed to be alot of younger people here in the evening having bbq's and get-togethers so if you wanted to talk to the locals about 6-7pm ish would be the time you want to head down.
There were a few people fishing on the sides of the beach so i assume there
were fish further out
Slightly bigger pics this time to do the place justice
The little water park thing in the first pic was a couple of trampolines slides etc, and a big float where you have people on either side you jump up and down to shake the float so the people on the other side fall off

And yes most the girls there had an amazing figure like her

Last beach we went to was Paradise Bay, this one was my personal favorite as it was almost entirely locals and had kayaking through little rock outcrops :D
In my opinion it was also the most pretty out of the ones we went to, the catch?
There is a 1km walk from the bus stop to the beach entrance
Up up and away

The beach itself was very small and the water was deep but calm so you would need reasonable swimming ability to enjoy it
However there was kyak hire available and i would go for that alone, very easy to use and great rocks outcrops to explore

I didn't take my camera out as i didnt want to get it wet, so i cant show you the rocks you can go through

Night-life wise it is all about Paceville,

great atmosphere gorgeous women and a very nice relaxed atmosphere and the best bit, FREE entry to every club we went to and there was no dress code

One thing for the older folks to bear in mind is that the drinking age is 16 in Malta, so earlier on there are kids in the clubs

Unfortunately most the night out pics are on the other camera, but here are some i took as a taster

The best Shisha bar we found was called Plush on the main square
Some shots before the clubs filled up, we came fairly early to get good seats so we could have a nice smoking session. The club was packed wall to wall every night so if you want to sit you need to get their about 9/10pm

Doesnt show up very well but they had hot dancers on the corner of the bar to get people to come in

Above was taken about a hour after the first
1218736163.JPG
1218736096.JPG

Every night random girls would dance on the bar

Opposite it was probably the best club for dancing called Empire, they played light house some europop. One thing to bear in mind is that the speakers were pretty much at their limit, so audiophiles should bring their noise filters if they dont want to have ringing ears afterwards. This place was also packed out to the walls every night

I have a new found respct for sparx, its bloody impossible to get descent shots when people are jumping up and down with their hands in the way

If you wanted more hardcore house there is a stairwell down the street from empire, upstairs is a club called the Shadow Lounge if you hare a House music fan thats worth a visit at least once.

If rock is more your thing, if you go left of burger king there is a club called Coconut which was very good. They had a off-the-hook prodigy set where everyone went mad, some very good nights to be had in there.
Bear in mind it is very light rock to appeal to a bigger crowd rather than hardcore, there was little/no metal or harder stuff (although disturbed - meaning of life did come on), its more sepultra, metallica level
I said there was no dress code, but most people in there wore emo/rock/metaller atire so you would stick out if you wear other stuff

There is also a latin club further down from there where all the spanish love to go if that is your sort of thing, or you just want to meet easy women.

3rd night we met some spanish people on a bus and they showed us to a spanish beach party which happened every weekend before they hit the clubs

It seemed to be pretty open so i dont think you needed to know anyone to go

I liked Malta far better than spain (aside from the ridiculously humid climate, 26oC during the night!) and would recommend it to anyone
On relfection maybe i should have blogged this

All I can say is Malta is the shit. It's so amazing out there and for some reason I get the feeling that I am home. I took my gf there at the start of July this year and not only did we both have an amazing time, meet nice people, goto fancy resturants, go on a speed boat, rubber dingy thing. We got really close!

Great for familys, great for couples and also great for nightlife

Has to be one of the best places I have visted yet and I will defo go back there!

Should of gone to the Blue Lagoona :)

Glad you had a great holiday Chronic :D

Is the Golden Bay beach public now? When I went (quite a while back now) it was a private beach - only people staying at the hotel were allowed to use it, which was absolutely sweet for us being guests.

Tip for everyone - as well as all the normal holiday stuff, you gotta visit Mdina - a spookily quiet walled settlement with a right mix of cultures. Was ace.

rofl glad you had fun...does not appeal to me though as the only reason i go to the beach is to go rockpooling and my idea of a wild night is having whipped cream and choccy sprinkles in my hot cocoa (I shit you not) because i've gotta be up early in the morning to go wildlife spotting lol.

anyhoo it'd be dull as ditch water if we were all the same (and even duller if we were all like me Oo)

welcome back, i suggest you try the trip round europe though, even if your mate drops out go it alone and see what you can find then make him green with envy when you return :D
