Nevermind the unnecessary rude tone of last post, woken up and headache. Apologies.

Someone giving 2/3rds of his money, is more impressive then mr billions giving a million.

Depends whether you place moral, social and caring thoughts above the greater use of money.

It is my opinion that impressive doesn't come into charity. Everyone gives an amount they believe is adequate and we all progress through life with the personal belief that what we have given is the right amount.

I gave a fiver to the last school charity we had; I know other kids who gave a quid and some who gave 15-20. Relative to wealth is a by-product of the obligations attached to giving to charity and how we all react is dependant on the wealth we have and the personal beliefs we attach to that wealth.

You can obviously tell I'm one of these sods who bases everything on behavioral economics ;)

Also is it only me that finds it crude when the celebrities have to make a point of 'how much' they actually give?

As its been said, its not how much they contribute, its the fact that they do, but when they have to go on about how much they did give, then it turns it into a publicised selfish act, a kind of 'ooh look at me, look how generous i am, now wheres the nearest camera so i can tell you all about my latsest song/film/tvshow'

In my 30 years of watching TV and reading magazines/newspapers, I have yet to come across one celebrity who has made a point about how much they have given to charity.

I am sure you will give me examples :D

McCartney is worth around 800m I think, certainly closer to a billion than a paltry 500m.
