Before I trawl through Google, can anyone recommend a good single-player chess game for the PC? I'm off out and about soon and fancy a chess game for my laptop, so an online version is nae good.

Anyone?

Battle Chess 3d ages ago was good for its time... I dunno if there's a newer version out though...

HEY CHESS IS THE BEST. And Chessmaster9000 is pretty neato actually yep. Real 3d with reflections and shadows and stuff! Tutorials! And the AI beats me.

I agree, I have Chessmaster. Its nicely scalable so you dont always have to lose and it has a nice tutorial package too explaining, opening moves, defence attack etc

2 things.

I meant to say kings pawn to e3 (coz as you can see the queens pawn cant go there) and do you mean kings pawn to e5. In light of my confession do you want to change it?




And I think a thread should be started for a community chess game where everybody takes it in turn to make a move.....

Lol, nooooooo it would be easy. Just person A posts a move, person B as black, then person C as white posts another (or A if he gets in quick enough) and so on. You'd just have to have a chess board handy to store the moves on.

Or we could play I Spy?
