It is not likely. This is mostly because the chemist you went to would be the same chemist after you'd moved and they likely wouldn't give a shit that you'd gone?

What's the issue of waiting a couple of minutes when you're ill so you won't be doing anything with that time anyway? :D

Off I trot to the same chemist again to fill my boots with drugs. I walk in, fill the prescription thing out and give it the woman "it will be a good 10 minutes before this is ready" she said, 10 minutes? 10 FUCKING MINUTES???? Had I asked for a pill made from unicorn horn and DoDo feathers or had I asked for SOME PILLS IN A BOX ON A SHELF? Seriously 10 minutes to walk to a shelf and pick up the box and pass it to me? Well I couldn't wait because I was dizzy and the one chair in there was filled by an old man, a bit fat old man so I went home. Samm had to fetch the pills for me again.

Oh fuck off, seriously :)

Ten minutes?

An ex of mine used to work in a pharmacy, so I can tell you with confidence that they don't just "walk to a shelf and pick up the box and pass it" to you.

By law it has to be counted and double checked and - again by law - it must be done under the supervision of the on-duty pharmacist. If there is nobody there do do the double check or the pharmacist is not on the premises when you present the prescription then the staff CANNOT just walk to the shelf and get your pills for you.

It doesn't matter if it's a controlled drug or something as common as antibiotics. It's not their fault and based on what my ex used to say about her customers, the person behind the counter was probably pretty keen to get your moaning arse out of the shop and would have gladly given you the pills if only they legally could :)

I also think some of the delays in dispensing seem more procedural than real.

Pretty much, although the regulations really are there for your protection and safety not to mention the protection of the supervising pharmacist.

You don't want the wrong drug and the staff don't want prosecuted and struck off.
