Cheater or not that is the question.

My definition of a cheat:

Modification, abuse or exploit of a game mechanism to gain an advantage over other players wich can not be gained by normal matters and was not intended by developers.

So Revenge called True Sight a cheat... well, it doesnt fit into my definition since it works like intended by the developers. On the other hand they never planned True Sight nor See Hidden when they developed the concept of stealthers. The only stealth counter meassure was intended to be Detect Hidden wich was meant to increase the stealth bubble of Archers and Minstrels and make them easier to find by Assassins.

IF he considers True Sight a cheat, then it is a very limited and temporary one since it is only usable once every 30 minutes and lasts only for 30 seconds.
Playing a Nightshade he has a way more powerfull version of this "cheat" available: See Hidden.

Thats what I meant with temporary and permanent cheats.

In this particular case time to check your positioning :)
Daoc server doesnt send info about stealthied/camoed players.

PS. From Falcon:
On a side note, thanks to True Sight and See Hidden, yes, stealther data is sent to the client just not rendered unless the skills are active, GG Mythic
OMG, Falcon, wonder what's the source of your information ? :)
So basically every ranger with radar sees all stealthied players if he bought "True sight" ? :puke:

Sko I dont want to offend you or question your intelligence but please use logics and common sense...

In oder to have True Sight and See Hidden (especially See Hidden) working the client ALWAYS needs to know the whereabouts of ANY stealthers within at least clipping distance.

Information about the position of stealthers is DEFINITLY send to the client like information about any other non-stealth player.

Edit: I don't think any Radar user will speak here and say "No, I am cheating and I can't see stealthers." or "Yes, I am a cheater and I see them all."
If certain programs can not detect stealthed players it is because they were not adapted to See Hidden mechanics.

Jer i dont want insult too, but wouldn`t it be sane to have something
if (player.hasSkill(Skills.SEE_HIDDEN)){
sendUpdatePacket();
}
on server ?
Or you're sure that this is processed client side ?

PS. Ofcause you know that detect range will be higher if you're moving slower, so its obvious that server sends update on stealthiers within detect radius on certain intervals.
PPS. Ofcause sane thing and actual coding of some feauture are different things so probably you're right, though indeed we need to install radar to check it for sure.

Yes, that would be nice but considering how old the game is and considering the initial server resources I dont think that it was coded this way. Its just extra work for the server... it would have to x-check every stealther in a zone with every other player and then compile a unique data stream for every single stealther.

Anit-cheat wise this would be a nice thing but I dont think Mythic can be arsed to implement it even if the now used servers have the resources.
