So lets see what's wrong with this picture...

1. It's dead time. The ball went over the line and a goalkick was supposed to be taken. Untill the keeper shoots the ball from anywhere on the 5 meter line the game starts again. He hadn't yet so anything that happened happened outside of "game time."
2. It was the frigging ballboy that rolled the ball into the goal. He is not part of the play. If during play he touches the ball (which he didn't because it was dead time, see point 1) the game would have to be halted right away for a referee bounce to resume play. Also the balldude would probably be sent off because he has no business being on the field.
3. It's the first professional female referee now excuuuuuse me... I'm all for emancipation etc but shouldn't female refs have the same standard as male reffs... I'm pretty sure they make the male reffs ... you know... read the rules and stuff before putting them to work!

Yup... stuff like this happens.
The real sad thing about this is, that the scoring team didn´t admit that it was an error. I mean.. they knew that the match was on TV and it would be obvious after the match.

In most leagues (The Premier League and the Danish Premier League at least) they can't, because the referre has already made a decision about the incident and they can't revoke that!

So using that same rule a ref can shoot the ball into the goal himself in the 89th minute, count it, and it will go into the books as a propper goal because he decided it?

I reckon there is good money in it for refs betting against the odds

I doubt anyone would want to jeopardize their job to score a goal.

And if they gambled on it they'd face a long time in jail

If that ref gets to whistle another professional match EVER I'll be very surprised ... she counted a goal that everyone can clearly see shouldn't have been counted for several very compelling reasons.

Not being able to reverse that is one thing but surely they won't risk this ref doing something equally stupid?

That is no longer true with the English FA. I will quote BBC news

Aware of the severity of the incident, the FA circumvented its own rules to lodge a charge of "serious foul play" against Thatcher.

This is to do with the Thatcher "attack" on Mendes. Though it may be the first time that it has happened there is now a 'precedent' (sp!) that lawyers will be able to persue and they may find that they have to overturn other referee decisions.

Oh.. and as for this case that isnt exactly true. Due to the fact the referee took no action if it was in English league the FA could take action (they would properly order a replay to be honest as opposed to just cancelling the goal out as it would have affected the outcome too much). The only time they have stated clearly they cant get involved is when punishment has been given out as it comes down to "double jeapody" (sp) situation, but with this Thatcher thing they opened up this new debate about what they can repunish someone for. But that got nothing to do with this situation

Clearly a referees decision is not final, and this referee should be banned from all competitions for the rest of the season and ordered to retake exams. If they did not see what happened they should have ordered a retake of the dead ball situation (much like they do on freekicks when they not ready). Very poor decisions and to me it points towards match fixing, but that is a big accusation to make so I wont do so This is gross negliagence on the refs behalf and it would get them fired if they done the equivelent in an 'actual' job.
