There is not such thing as a cheap hotel in London. Hell people come on holiday and stay in hotels in Croydon of all places because of the cost of London hotels, and they ain't really cheap here either.

What's your budget?

I would try using a Youth Hostel. You don't go to London to stay in your hotel room anyway.

Your other option is to wait until the last minute and then see if you can get one of these last minute cheaper deals. The advantage of this is that you might get to stay somewhere nice but then again you may have to pay for an expensive place.

Last minute deals are the way to go. Had rooms in kensington/knightsbridge for as cheap as £15 a night using doing it this way.

Travelodge, Premier Inn or Days Inn might be your friends.

If you know you're going early enough, you can get quite a saving on Travelodge online booking prices.

Anywhere in a radius around West London, close to Wandsworth would be desirable :)

No need to be a 4 stars hotel, anything decent and clean will do :p

If you have a spare £4000 a night for a room, try the Lanesborough Hotel. You get a chauffeur-driven Bentley for your exclusive use for the entire duration of your stay and your own butler.

They do picnic baskets with the whole shabang, as well if you want to go to the Park across the road with Jeeves included, excellent hotel.

The Berkeley just down the road is also very good. Got Petrus & the Boxwood Cafe there. If you're into Gordon Ramsay check it out
