right,

If people want a deasent blending bourbon try Benchmark
If your looking for a good class of Bourbon Try Eagle Rare 10 or Buffalo Trace
If it's upper class bourbon ? try George T. Stagg or Pappy van winkle 20 yo

Now while talking usa, you also have your Wheat & your "my fav" Rye whiskey

for Wheat, you got your Wellers 12
And for rye you got your Van Winkle Family reserve Rye or if your laoded ? Sazerac 18

ofc there are plenty others,
ps: the Benchmark is exactly the same whiskey as the Buffalo Trace just Younger, ;)
Personally I have the Van winkle Res. Rye in my collection, and the Trace,
I wish I could afford the likes of the "Big Five" George T.stagg 15, Eagle rare 17, Thomas H. Handy 8, Weller Uncut 12, Sazrac 18. And ofcause the van winkle 20.... :S

Jack D aint bourbon!
it's tennessee whiskey!

Indeed. JD is Tennessee Sour Mash and can't be classed as Bourbon.

I rather like Woodford's Reserve for Bourbon but I've generally found American whiskey to be stinky stuff. Drink Whisky ffs.

Anyway this is supposed to be about beer. Will probably have one of my Fuller's vintage ales at some point over Christmas along with some Double Chocolate Stout.

Oh gee, whoa...i'm so enlightened now...really...it's not like it reads on the bottle :p

If compared to other "bourbons", it's rather easier to say "bourbon" as it's similar to "bourbon" and as such calling it "bourbon" makes conversation about "bourbon" easier. Other wise you'll be saying "Yes we have a nice selection of bourbons and JD."

Dumb.

Not dumb.

JD although it is horrible makes a big thing about not being a Bourbon. It is charcoal drip filtered premium Yank piss after all.

Highland isn't Island isn't Speyside isn't Lowland
Champagne isn't Cava isn't Prosecco
Tequila isn't Mezcal
Fleurie isn't Brouilly
Margaux isn't Pessac-Léognan
Sauternes isn't Monbazillac

hardly,

In that aspect you'd have to include wheat, rye and other corn whiskeys as well, when talking bourbon, hell infact wheat is actually closer to bourbon in taste than JD is

But tbh,
I usually just though them all in the same pot as being American whiskey, and by the by my comment was aimed at Imgor calling Jd Bourbon, and not your inclusion of JD to the discussion.

There's a big difference :p

Though something in a pot, could be a query?

Though...something in a pot? :D

Anyway, yeah i know what oyu meant with it, just that, well, JD, JB, and all the other off-worldly drinks i tend to throw in the same pile, like you, but just call it bourbon.

Kinda like scotch for scots, whisky for ires, bourbon for yanks and the other stuff just "cheap whisky" :D

Well if you bothered to read what i said in the first place, i said it was cocktail bourbon, not 'a' bourbon ;p

Thanks for the advice on the tesco bourbon. I read up on it after trying to shop for it yesterday, it's now considered rare thus the no show when i went to go buy it yesterday.

However I did get the asda stuff that's nice, not as good as the sainsbury's stuff which has a hint of vanilla in it. I'll keep an eye for it but I don't hope to find it any time soon :S

Alas it is no longer available at my tesco's at the moment :(

I think its a small distilery and they have not been able to cope with demand since out economy went to shite and everyone wants a decent cheap drink.

Bottle of voddy for 4 quid, jeez no wonder they moan about alcohol prices driving everyone nuts. The price at the headbangin end of supermarket booze has not gone up in 20years, in fact you wouldn't expect to get bottle of cheap vodka for 4 quid then.

Lots of good bargins I noticed at Tesco's over the weekend. Alot of the posh import lagers (Staropramen, Baltica, Bitburger, those polish ones, etc) at 5 pound for 5...huge swaiths of the wine section at half-price...the 30 pound malts going for around 20 quid. Hope someone has some discounts on the Summer Lightning, my choice of commotion lotion atm.

Talisker was on offer in Saisnburys, £6 off but not sure how long for.

Also Isle of Jura down to £18 a bottle in there.

Think it must be across the board, they were all on discount in Waitrose also (i get about these supermarket booze sections). Remember thinking half the single malts where the same price as a bottle of Jamesons.

If someone replaced my beer with paint-stripper i'd accuse them of watering down my drink :eek7:

But in any case, try it, pint, bottle of beer, rest coke :D

As far as beer is concerned with cola toht? heh, well what ever floats your boat. I like real ale, so when I go out that's what I look for. On the other hand, I visited Aldi today, bought a bottle of their bourbon called Southern Belle. It's ok, although the hint of Orange is rather understated. At £8.50 i suppose you can't complain. But not the best of the lot - Sainsbury's or Lidl gets my vote.

Part beer, part coke, shot of grenadine, shot of amaretto...

Tastes almost exactly like dr.pepper ;)
