Charred Irewood Greenbach

Yesterday my bard set off to kill an Irewood Greenback in Gur, part of the lvl 40 epic horseriding task. I scouted the woods south of innis where I knew these to be and came across a named Irewood called 'Charred Irewood Greenbach'.

He was kinda low, only blue to me at 41, so I shouted at him and he spawned loads (10+) tinly little irewoods that proceeded to root me and then dissapear! I ran back to innis as fast as my twisting would allow

I went back with some high level help (Thanks Lekkus and Cyly), and killed the tree (well grey to my lvl 50 helpers).

Now I was kinda hoping for a otd, this was a very unusal encounter, havent seen anything quite like it before. My questions for anyone who knows are :-

a) has anyone out there got any otd's from it?

b) does anyone know if it serves some deeper purpose (part of a quest or something).

c) Do you get otd's if the creature is grey to your party?

hmm never heard of that, prolly not otd, my guess is some kind of new quest or event thingy

u get no drops if the mob is grey to anyone in your grp, and no xp either obviously

Now I know you get no normal drops or exp Worked that out somewhere along the line. But otds are a bit special, like quest items they go straight to your backpack and im not sure they follow the same rules.

you get otd if the mob is gray, unless you did it before ofc

was added in 1.49 or something, tried to find him many times with my ment, never came across him, even tho i had locs and everything :<

was a 'new encounter' and afaik, no-one has really bothered to put the time in to see if he drops for a certain class/level etc, since he's so far out from anywhere, and near mobs that are totally out of the same level range.

He doesn't drop a thing for heroes, back in 1.5x that is.

Great, I might experiment, seems a lot of programming gone into his script for some reason.

Well for any that are interested my rough directions are :-
head out from innis along the shoreline towards the pook spawn.
about halfway there go inland and cross the path. Hes in the woods their at the top of the hill, or at least was for me.

Hasnt dropped for Bard or Warden. And sounds like it doesnt work for Heros too, thanks old.Reno

OTD do fall; even if the mob is grey to you.

Afaik you dont get drops given out if anyone in the group sees the mob as grey con m8

I remember going out to the oak man with a group before and they didnt get the drop till the high levels disbanded and we soloed it

Unless they changed it, otd's drop to anyone equal to/above the lvl of attainment.

E.G. Brannigan, lvl 20summit otd, did with a lvl 48 warden when i ran into him by chance.
