i plan buying this cooler for my card just to make it a bit quieter and also extend the life. how hard is it to swap the fans? is it worth the hassle or not?

Not very hard. I put a water block on mine in a few minutes.

I have the first one on the list.
I dont know how cooler it gets the card as I got that fan before fiddling with overclocking.

It's easy to change and no more noisy than the fan the card comes with. :D

I wouldn't be too worried about lifetime extension btw, GPUs have a long life with the stock cooler, so unless you're planning to keep it for a LONG time you won't see much difference. I swapped the cooling on mine for noise purposes.

I heard good things about this cooler, if you're going for quiet. It's supposed to work with 9800 radeons as well.

I have a huge Zalman copper cooler with heatpipe etc, it was dead easy to put on. The hardest bit was getting the old heatsink off, which was held on with plastic pins.

Pair of needle-nosed pliers and they pop right off. Just don't go too heavy handed.

I've got the arctic one on mine. Note that it'll block off the next PCI slot, but it's not like anyone uses all of their slots these days. :)

I've got my Pro's Core at 450MHz now. Might have to turn that down a bit when Doom 3 arrives.
