Changing realms - which classes to choose?

I am considering switching to Mid again. I have two accounts, so one will be a full Aug Shaman (how to spec initial 30 points?).

Which class will be best to team with this?

I guess Bezerker is out, so I was considering either:

1. Warrior
2. Spirit Master
3. Bone Dancer
4. Savage

I do not know which of these would be best - I played only a Bezerker the last time I tried Mid.

If you can help (I know these questions get asked a lot, and I've been back a page or two but didn't see anything specifically helpfull), then could you please say how the class should best be specced?

I have no particular ideas about any of the above classes really, so am completely open to all suggestions.

If you could say race, and where to spec points also that would be nice ;)

TIA :)

depends how ya like to play really

personally I love playing a healer. and such a grp friendly char

Warrior is also good, grp friendly, you can also solo when you need to and soon trolls get made uber =))

BD is not a topic that I know much of, except that they rock at lvl 50, but lvling them I have no cluce, so no comment.

Just got my savage to lvl 49, 2h savage is easy solo and also the fast hitting speed makes the class fun to play and watch =))

Spirit master is another grp friendly class with some insane damage to go with, I think out of all those chars you mentioned an SM would be easiest to level up.

Doubt this is much help to you but, if I ever get bored and sick and willing to go through another 50 lvls of torment I would choose a Warrior, cause they are so defensive, and hit hard with it =)

if you need any help when you move, money and equipment etc. let me know, I can give you plenty =)

Nice post - thanks ;)

What do you consider to be a good spec for a Warrior? There seems to be so many options it's a little confusing ;)

these are the 3 main specs (i think)

50/50/28 (weapon, shield, parry)
50/42/XX (weapon, shield, parry)
44/44/44 (weap, shield, parry)

i don't really know any warriors that don't use the 50/50/28 spec so i'm not sure how viable it is.

Savages/Shaman are supposedly the new duo group, though i wouldn't rule out a beserker. They are being nerfed, but they'l still do a fair deal of damage.

BD's... well i've got a dark spec, but i kind of lost interest once i hit 15 (caster pets arn't really that great). Supp is fairly easy leveling post-15, and post-30 you'l be able to chain oranges for as long as your mana will allow.

BA apparently only starts to really shine post-30 (i'd assume because you have 3 tank pets+that nasty pet dmg add)

SM's are quite nice group classes with most specs, but to be honest i think that their mostly 1-trick ponys depending on which line you choose.

Dark = Nuke
Summ = cast dmg shield and farm away
Supp = stand in the box and spam PBAE

Again, i had a supp SM but i found it tedious at best. Though i guess it must suit some people.

warrior speccs afaik there is only 2
50 weap 50 sheild 28 parry
50 weap 42 sheild 39 parry
weap of choice ppl say sword for frontload = ragnarök
axe for positionals
hammer for low end use

think almost all races are okaj as warrior, maybe true warrior expert can comment on that.

sm lvling as summoning specc should be ok with shammy, u buff pet cast dam sheild and let pet kill all and heal with shammy.

can respec too supp or darkness at lvl 40. sm should have np getting grps as supp specc.

Alternative warrior spec:

50 sword
42 shield
39 hammer (or higher with autotrain)

level with axe up to 40 and respec it and autotrain sword and hammer, then spec either sword or hammer or autotrain the second to 48.

You get access to Slash/Crush Ragnarök/Provoke.

May not be the best but fun.

50 shield
50 sword (for ragnarok)

no support's or casters will run from you =)

I went dwarven warrior mostly for guild(imperial Dwarven army), but also for hp:s.

If I was to make that choise after have had a warrior as main for 8 months, I'd go kobbie. I think a Kobbie would be more fun to play and I love to block those nasty blows.

But kobbie prolly not the best race due to weak(er) con and strenght. But that is what I would do. And offcourse. Go 50 weap, 50 shield, rest parry. The shield is a warriors best friend. Can't see why not speccin it full.

Peace

BDs are great and fun classes. But it all depends on what player you are. If you like running around solo and killing everything in yer path a BD is the right choice for you. The bad part is that they don't fit in the "perfect" group so u might not be able to get good RvR groups unless u have a nice guild ;)

1. Warrior is a good choice and a good tank. They special skill in blocking attack on other people make it very good in RvR aswell in xp grp.

2. SM one of our top xp players grped with pac healer. Also very funny to play RvR if you got good grp. Their PBAE nuke like the only good thing they got for rvr :p. Very good for defending keeps tho... :)

3. IMO, the funniest char i've ever played. Good in RvR grp, but unfortunately only bonedancers know this :(. They are probebly the best 1vs1 character in the whole game, but I think most people know this (nerf :p). Only problem is to get a good grp when xp'ing at higher lvl (forget lair imo, unless u wanna be LK like i was).

4. Best tank in game? Might be. Just read all the nerf spam that we have. H2H och 2H spec, your choice. Personally i think H2H is better. Good Tank in xp grp and most wanted tank in RvR grp.

That's about it :D

Kobolds make excellent defensive warriors.

If you go 50 shield , 50 sword , 28 parry , you will be the king of block due to your naturally high dex. The only downside is don't expect to hit really hard due to the low starting str.

I made a kobold warrior who is currently 43 and went 10 str / con / dex into starting stats. So far his spec is 43 shield / 43 sword / rest parry and I can chain kill OJ's untill i run out of end. With a full spread of aug shamy buffs I can efficiently tank reds and light purples in DF.

If you want to deal massive ammounts of front load damage you are beetr off going as a troll, but to be a real healer / caster protector I say go kobold.

just a suggestion - but if you decide to go for the SM or BD, a pac healer would be a lot better for you than an aug shammy imo (for the mana crack).

46hammer
42shield
44parry

That's how I'm specced, and I've never met any other warrior with it :) It works extrememly well for myself. If I were to ever respec to another weapon though, I would go for 50wep/50shield rest parry. the reason I never took hammer to 50 is because the 50 style is so bloody useless it's unreal, and the extra weapon skill/ damage would be much more negligable than the significant defence upgrade, even in its broken form.

With MoParry2 and MoB2 on top of Det/ Purge/AoM, etc, it works extremely well!

if u go Bd, i would recommend going supp spec (the spec that really benefits from the shaman buffs) and go kobbie, as the higher dex makes it more fun in grps.

BDs are great solo classes and work well as a nuker in rvr grps, at 30+ the supp spec really starts to shine as ur pets can chain oranges, and at BG lvl supp BDs are so powerful its unbelivable, but at 50 u lose the ability to solo fgs (although some albs/hibs claim that u can...but i have never done it)

with a buffbot you can get 1369 hits as a kobbie at 50, combined with 2 healer pets and a instant life drain makes u a surprisenly good tank in malmo, and a basterd to kill in rvr as all albs will go for you, ignoring the 2h sword troll savage whoses ganking all their casters :)

and the AB buff makes ur pet near invincable

So you wont roll a zerker because they gonna do less dmg then a Savage? FOTM player?

no she means hib/excal :p. She had a shaman here, but apparently dont like it and wants the money now on a useful char :).

btw vodkafairy maybe talk with arnor, if you hadnt done that before:)?

and poon, most zerkers are whining that their zerker is broken after .62 people read that and think ok lets not start one. That isnt really fotm player, just trying to avoid gimped classes (which they might not be but the whining would make you believe so).

If you go for warrior this is my sugestion:

Until your exp days is over and you're under 50: max weapon - max parry - rest in shield.

After ding 50, when your rvr career starts respec and go for: max weapon - max shield - rest in parry.

good luck

No - I won't roll one because they are getting gimped, and I am more interested in Warrior or Savage.

Hope that does not upset you :*(

Danamyr they arent getting gimped though. They wont be the highest damage dealers out there anymore, but gimped is something else ;). Just play the class which by the looks is something you enjoy. So when its damage gets toned down, it will still be a fun class ;).
But about savages if you are afraid of getting gimped classes, savages might be heading towards a nerf. So before you put your time in a class, remember that savages arent the most stable class to choose.

Well, I was not certain to say, because everyone gives very good advice, but over last two days I rolled a Healer! She is Lvl 14 ATM, and I have not bothered with another character yet - having far too much fun stunning, mezzing, healing and (occassionally) rezzing! :)

Still going to roll a fighter class of some description, but first priority ATM is Lvl 19, and BG 0 domination! ;)

Thanks to all for contributing ;)
