Right, its time I sold my car and purchased another.
I never buy brand new cos you lose too much money(I never keep cars for long u see).
Ive had my Audi A3 for 7mths and its time I changed it.
I want to spend around 15k
I DO NOT WANT A BMW! been there done that, hate em
It needs to be able to hold Me, my missus, my two kids and a bootfull of shopping.

My choices are:

Subaru impreza WRX STI, but im not sure i wanna pay 2k a year to insure it.

Mercedes A Class, I just like the look :/

Alfa romeo 156, dont really like alfa build quality, but they look luvverly

maybe one of those sporty jap type R cars?

Mitsubishi GTO

Have you got a car or do u know a car that I might like, tell me I want a change and i need more ideas on what to go for.

Is that a five-door A3 ?

A Class is nice second-hand as they are coming down to respectable prices at last, problem is trying to get one without leather seats as that doesn't mix well with kids.

sell your wife and kids into slavery and buy a ferrari f1 car

no need for excessive amounts of shopping (eating for one) no kids screaming in the back seat and no nagging from the missus to slow down , look out for the traffic lights, dont drive so close etc

have a look at the Audi S3. nice fast 4 wheel drive. not as quick as the impreza but certainly much more refined :)

i have an A3 Quatro Sport. when my contract is up i will most likely replace it with the same or the S3.

Definately.

Or go for the Alfa zap, the build quality is good now, they just got a bad name from the olden days :( you can't beat Italian imo.

But yes hmmmm get the Type R.

have to agree, this car owns! but does look a little bus like :D

maybe wait for the 206RC 180bhp out in jan 2003 - will handle like a dream.

but out of your list i'd go for a scooby, u only live once so fuck the insurance costs

If you live anywhere near any clear roads, preferably twisty country ones, Scooby. My old man has a Scooby WRX and it insures well under a grand. But, he is an older driver with a clean bill and no claims. I can't think the STi is substantially more in terms of insurance.

There's nothing like accelerating round corners in Scooby though, you're just moulded into the car as it rails along the road. Stunning piece of machinery. It's also quite practical, being suitable for family life and town shopping. Though tight at times, it's perfectly comfortable and even exciting as a passenger.

one drawback to the scooby tho is running costs.... brakes, fuel, servicing every 5000miles i think!

Golf VR6, looks good, goes well and you can get them in a 5 door version.

Though the Scooby does sound nice (I think they bumped the service intervals up to 10000 miles after a huge number of complaints but I could be wrong), a Mitzy Evo 5 or 6 would be my choice for fun.

Civic Type-R is not a family car.

It is rather small, I wouldnt want to have it for two kids a wife and shopping :p

Get the alpha or the gh3y A class.

Go for the GTO :) Or 3000GT whichever way it's now known these days.

Servicing, nope; Every 10k according to WhatCar? But we had a service at 7k then 20k, or it's to the time limit. Fuel, nope; WRX does 27.7 combined.

You can rule out a Skyline, plus most of the Jap "supercars" as well for the same reason. Civic Type-R sounds like your best bet.

You must have had a bad/old one. I've driven lots of cars, and do 1,000miles a week or more. I'm currently in a 323SEi, and it is without a doubt the best car for its class I've ever driven. It will chew up motorways, and shift to Steptronic and its brilliant around the twisty bits. I would recommend you take another look :)
But then I would, wouldn't I?

the "new" Honda civic is possibly the most practical car ever

theres enough room in the back to fit 3 6ft people fully stretched. Boot is pritty huge.

Don't bother with a subaru ( especially impreza) your gonna have to spend 25,000+ for a decent one and even then the interior is crap and insurance is a bomb.

get a 206cc ! not very practical, but looks the nicest and its wqithin your price range :)

Then sell it to me in 7months time for a even lower price so i can have one.

Get it new from abroad for 13k (3k cheaper than here) and you have a better slection of colours from German/French/Spanish retailers.

Dont get a honda civic :)

the build quality isnt the best, i've had one for the last year or so.

I'd plump for a Mitsubishi :)
