Does that make them a cheap buy or do they have reliability issues?

I don't have any experience of them really. I wouldn't have one.

The latter. Oh yes indeedy. I've had three; total engine rebuild, clutch, gearbox synchromesh, selespeed actuator failure (three times), and that was with new cars! Apparently in the new series of TG they're doing an "Alfa for under a grand" challenge.

I like mazdas but my dad had an RX8 and tbh I really prefer the RX7. The RX8 is slow as fuck ( my sisters corsa has better 0-60 ) and its a 4 seater, bleh.

I do like MX5s but they ARE a bit summo if you know what I mean.

The Z3 looks a lot nicer, espec for similar money.

The old Z3 or the current one? The old one is fucking horrible (apart from the M); it always reminds me of Herbert's broken-backed dog, Jessie, in Family Guy, sort of muscular at the front, and weedy and fucked-up at the back.

Not sure what the diff is, but I have to say the silver ones look like poo, in black it looks like I could do dirty things to it.

RX7 is engine rebuild city.

I know what you mean about the RX8 too, you need to really work that wanky, I mean wankel engine to get it to really move; i'm not sure I'd want that.

I had a Clio 182 for a while, and whilst it was a great little hot hatch and was pretty nippy, it was just a torqueless wonder and hopeless around town under 4000 rpm. I got tired having to work it to get it to move.

You could always get an old-Mini. Look for a rust-free version. Loads around, cool as fuck (seriously, not many cars are that cool). Brilliant handling too.

Urgh die/etc :p My friend had a mini.

I'm 6'5" so they are NOT a good choice lol.

Z3 is looking like a nice option atm.

Spot on! And height doesn't have to be an issue... plenty of places do seat bracket extensions for the taller folks.

And before someone says it, yes, I do tie blocks of wood under my shoes

In fact, for the money you are talking about you could probably get hold of an 'R1 Mini'... a classic mini with a motorbike engine in it... absolutely ludicrously fast and fun :D

I think i'd prefer an R1 tbh.

Yep - also awesome - to be honest I was kind of lumping them all together :D

One of the only reasons I still have my old (off the road) Vectra SRi is that I might sling the engine from that into a clubby sometime :p

Pro-Motive - Home

I can't see youtube here at work, but I think that shows a 1/4 mile from an R1 ??

Why dont you just get a real R1 if you want performance, for about £3500, and stop being such a collection of pansies :)

Just don't. 4 months I had mine, 4 grand I lost in that time, and I was glad to see the back of it.

It's already done a fair whack of its depreciation though. If you intended to keep it for a while it'd be a decent buy for Joe Average.

Edit: are you talking about the TT or the Mondeo?
