Champion or Mentalist ?

So a theoretical question:
Group consisting of
bard
druid
druid
warden
animist
eldie
blademaster

What would better compliment it -
champion or mentalist ?
(we're assuming NF setup here)

Both are pretty good in NF.

The champ with rr5 and ml10 banelord will do some pretty sick melee damage when both abilities are up.

The ment can demez (release grey pet, get demezed, moc 1 demez etc) and has some ae damage.

Personally I wonder if the animist couldn't be replaced with a light/mana eld for nearsight, ae des dex/qui, and str/con debuffs.


This group might be quite intersting:

bard

There's alot of CC there:
AE (insta) mez
AE (insta) root
Ichor
TWF
2x Static Tempest
charge + snaring tendrils
2x Grapple

There's a lot of uninterruptable damage:
TWF
2x Negative Malestrom
Ichor
ML2 & ML8 banelord
BM and VW melee

There's also:
2x DI
BAOD
2x BodyGuard
3 demezers
All the usual stuff from bard druid druid warden

Our anim == insta death to any mezzed target.
+ shroom defence when situation warrants.
+ rerolling is not an option when half of group is rr10 and rest r6-9 =D

My vote is on a warlord mentalist
ability to nullify pets is priceless when u got a million of them on ur support.
also utilities like emergencyheals, 2nd demezzer, extra pet, very good dmgoutput, AE interupt, negative maelstrom, static tempest.

Champs aint bad either, but imo a mentalist would bring more utility to the group.

shield champ with bodyguard. You got no hero, and bg alone is no use against arrows or on the move.

no seriously though.. champs get somewhat special from what i have heard.. its a matter of time before there's a nerf champs thread on FH.. and a serious one at that. champs aint just support tanks.. they can debuff and guard, protect, intercept, nuke, snare.. can hit stuff if needed ofc but.. lets leave that for NF

Debuff is nice, protect useless, intercept useless, nuke is nice, guard is shit against dual wielders, snare is nice. And if u go to battlemaster Sturrm will hang you. And if a hib tank gonna get nerfed, think it's time to finally slam a nail to my coffin.

Cant tell anything bout the new abils that are inc, but ya guess champ gonna be fotm like other tanks that wont suffer from lack of det anymore.

Im not sure there is any tank in any realm that can pump out more Damage on the first hit than an Offensively Specced Banelord Champ.

Hey casters Love to have Babysitters but imho you don't need Babysitters if you are not running with Babies in the group.

Like I said, Different peeps = Different playstyles = Different opinions.

All in all the one most important thing I have learned in all this time is the following:

PLAYSKILL > Class/Spec/Race

PS : Go check mid warrior stuff, might teech you some dmg. No offence to champs ( i love em ) but neeed to return back to reality and the gimpness of hib tanks

Perhaps I should do some math for you:

Annihilation 700+ Damage (more with crit), + Str/Con Debuff 300 hitpoints, + 150 Damage on DD, + Primal Agony 200 Damage.

That adds up to 1350 Damage on first hit without breaking a sweat. Won’t add in possible Crits on the hit or Agony Transmission cause that’s just overkill.

Lets see with NF, why would you go with a champ (over another tank):

#1 static tempest
#2 ml2 + ml8 banelord + wotc3 + (needs ip3/di3 or an insta but still) = ouch!!
#3 BoV + banespike + s/c debuff + DD + annialation = /nerf pics

Every so often high rr and ml champs are going to wtf pwn.
