To provide the Camelot community with a way to adventure cross-realm with no worries about being killed by other players, we are unveiling our new Co-Operative Server types. On this type of server there is no type of player-vs-player combat at all (except for dueling) - any members of any realm can group and form guilds together, and everyone can communicate with everyone else.

Why the heck play DAOC if you dont wanna play PvP ?

Excuse me for giving a serious reply to your semi-serious post, but I, like a lot of people playing DaoC, have tried PvP on Gorre and -like we expected- found to be a dull, boring place full of griefing.

RvR is the best solution to roleplay PvP I've seen sofar.

If they allowed PvP in the frontiers on this server it would be perfect. The PvP servers have too much pointless griefing and the RvR servers are tired.

They should do basic free for all in the frontiers on this new server, just you cannot attacks anyone in your guild/group. So basically it would be open PvE in the 3 realms, and people could still go RvR...

there are a lot of people who don't like RvR or PvP...

they just want to play the game (and see all the content - you only get 1/3 of it unless you level up three characters to 50, and it's hard to play with all your friends)

Don't think I'll bother if we get a pure PvE... but you never know :)

Cooperative server?

Soooo.... What do you do when you reach level 50? Indeed, what's even the point of getting to level 50 on a cooperative server?

It'll be like:

"lookit me, I'm lvl 50 and have full spellcrafted armour!"
"Mmmmm.... okay, so what do you do?"
"Well... I powerlevel my lowbie mates, and hunt itamz for them."
"Oh? And what do they do for you in return?"
"Ermm... nothing...."
"So, you've worked hard to get to 50 and kit yourself out in the best gear imaginable just for a bunch of n00bs to leach off you?"
"The bastards!" </quit>

I like the idea about being able to cross realm and xp with other classes, it might be fun. But yes, what the hell do u do once u hit 50.

Duels are long overdue... I came to Daoc after playing PvP for 1.5 years in Ultima Online. Not even a shred of PvM thx to being in a war guild..

Disputes in UO were often settled via duelling (Come to felluca mofo! )
and i have often wanted to kill my own realm mates ( I am sure u have all felt the same way). The only downside is that
a 1 vs 1 battle in daoc is going to be decided on what class u r, what lvl or who attacks 1st, and hardly ur skills as a player.

So after long waffle, yah the idea stinks but get duelling on normal servers just for the hell of it.

thats a big except...

basicly all rvr will be dueling, there will be tournaments held etc, i think i would prefer this server to pvp :p

this server would be so boring...

when you're xping you always want at least 1 break a day to go to BGs/RvR/something fun with real life players.

imagine running to emain in primetime and not being able to kill any scummy albs :p.

one reason people will make chars there is mass controlled duelling with all realms being able to talk etc

lol, people spend all day complaining that this realm and that were zerging and finally GOA (or Mythic, Whoever Came Up With This Idea) come up with a server type that totally negates any and all kinds of zerging and everyone starts laughing at it.

Why don't you actually give it a try before you start mocking it?

Well it seems you lot (well most of you) didnt bother to read the full post on Coop server didnt you?

There is a "rvr" element on the CooP server:

FRONTIER KEEPS AND REALM ABILITIES

The twenty-one frontier keeps and the relic keeps have all been taken over by enemies. Upon breaking down the doors and killing the monsters holding that keep, the true lord of that keep will arrive.

Guilds will be able to claim the keep and fly their banner, but dark forces will return and reclaim the keeps.

A common link through these enemies is that the enemy leaders appear to carry Glowing Dreaded Seals.

To show appreciation for service fighting these enemies - the lords of the land will award Realm points and Realm abilities to those who defeat them.

The people who accept the seals are in the 3 major cities: Relena is in Tir Na Nog, Lady Nina is in Camelot and Fiana is in Jordheim.

The layout for seals:

If you are below level 20 the NPC will tell you they cannot help you and will not take the seals.

At level 21 to 25 you get 20 Realm Points per set of seals.
At level 26 to 30 you get 30 Realm Points per set of seals.
At level 31 to 35 you get 50 Realm Points per set of seals.
At level 36 to 40 you get 300 Realm Points per set of seals.
At level 41 to 45 you get 700 Realm Points per set of seals.
At level 46 to 49 you get 1500 Realm Points per set of seals.
At level 50 you get 3000 Realm Points per set of seals.

Yes its till PvE but with a RvR flavor to it.....

Im not going PvP all that i hate with DAoC is embodied there, snotty leet kids with crap attitude all in one place.. yuck!

From the beginning i was planning on going PvP with a few friends after its been live for a month or so.. for some fun run around all the relams and have good time, but with the CooP ill wait til it goes live here (roughly around january... 2004)

AND what better server to have Events on than on the coop server? ONE big event that requires elements from all 3 realms! Bliss :). And add that to the RP element (yes mr.omgimsoleetplz there is ppl that enjoy that in the game ....).

i say  for Co-Op

for the whole Coop rule set go here

Which is why (if we europeans get it) you will have 2 other English "normal" servers to gank on + a pvp server.

Like someone else said, i'd much rather play co-op than pvp.
