Got some friends coming over tonight for a night in before they go back to uni. Was planning to play poker but aint really got enough chips accessable, anyone recommend some good card games for 4-5 people. Can involve drink not fussed, open to suggestions

Game we dutchies call bluf poker dunno if u know it..

Card values 7=7, 8=8, 9=9, 10=10, Jack = 1 , Queen 2 , king=3 , Ace = 11

Object is too get the highest score (duh) so if u have jack and a 10 u have 11.. Means u suck highest you can have is 21 ( ace and 10)
After that its doubles that count! double 7 beats 21, double queen beats double 10. Highest card in the game u can have is: King and Queen of the same kind.. So Hearts king and queen after that double ace etc etc.

If you have king queen of different thingies like king of spades and club queen you have 5

This one is very important... Lowest ingame is Jack and Queen means you have 3.. If you choose too play with these cards and noone else callls you evryone pays you the pot D:
Ground rules:
Someone starts as dealer, he deals 2 cards for one round, At the start of a round evryone puts in like 10p (as its friendly and you all are newbs )
So with 5 people that makes the pot 50p then u start too deal. First one to say is if he want too play is the person left of the dealer. (YOU ARE EITHER IN OR OUT ) then the next person says in or out...
The dealer may not take the pot if evryone b4 him choose not too play!!!!
If 2 or more people go for the pot the loser(s) have too pay the pot the rest does not have 2 pay for the next round. So if the pot was 1 pound and 3 guys played for it.. the 2 loosers pay 1 pound EACH for the pot.

If noone takes the pot next person deals and evryone puts in another 10p...

If for example the 2 highest persons both have 21 everyone pays the pot for the next round that choose too play for the pot that round... So there is no difference between spades, diamonds, clubs or hearts.

EDIT: the person left of the dealer deals next round and reshuffle the cards from the last game into the pack

You can play variations like dealing 3 cards so you have too discard 1 card and keep the 2 you want too play with etcetcetc

Ow and use real money , its more fun racking in 7 pounds in dimes is the rox

The two games I play all the time are 7 card stud (poker variant) and a game called shithead (A's, 2's, 10's one)

Newmarkets quite good for a quick laugh.

Banker game where you bet on 4 cards (or horsies) to 'come in', using 4 cards from another deck, sometimes you make lot of cash, sometimes the banker gets it all Simple, good for those that arent hardcore card'ers.

Nomination whist (loads of varients on this). Play games for tricks, before you start you have to guess how many youll win.

Solo (guess you know this). Strange type of nomination whist where each player bids what they think they can make and everyone gangs up to stop whoever bid higest from getting their nomination (lots of strange names for scoring.. e.g. a Solo is winning 5 tricks, abundance declare (excuse my bad french), losing all your tricks playing with your hand exposed so everyone cans see. Stuff like that..
