Question! I could have gone to a dedicated car forum for this, but i'm sure there's a few who at least are in the know.

I bought my Focus 3 years ago from Bristol Street Motors and during those 3 years i had free Priority Service Plan inclusive of MOT, car has passed each time. Now the 3 years has expired i now have to look at servicing the car from next year onwards with cost.

I asked for a quote for continuing it for the next 3 years, and was told i'd have to pay £16pm for 3 years - Works out at about £600+, this is for 2 minor services and 1 major service again inclusive of MOT.

This is effectively £200 per service which seems mightily extortionate compared to seeing adverts offering services for half that value - I hear the reason may be is because they are a Ford branded company, but even some lesser known dealers who use legitimate parts charge not even half that?

How old is the car and what's the mileage? You may have a major service in that time period which could be 3-400 on its own. But, what do you plan to do with the car at the end of three years? Dealer servicing on a car that's 6-7 years old is largely a waste of time unless you're selling it privately. Otherwise, if you're going to trade in, a dealer will probably scrap a car over 5-6 years old anyway, so if they give you any gyp about dealer service record at trade in, you just point it out.

Car is 2008, Focus Titanium so coming on 8 years old now.
I have a local council run garage which does really cheap MOTs and doesn't rip you off, that's who i used for years prior to getting the deal with BSM, unsure if they do services though.

Find a decent garage and get it done there. Dealerships only worth it while you have a warrenty with them imo

Dealer servicing absolute waste of time for a car that age.

Yep, don't bother with a Ford dealer. From now on just stick to oil and filter changes, spark plugs (if applicable) on the Ford schedule. If something goes wrong, fix it when it goes wrong. Just about any garage can fix a Focus. Pads, discs, suspension components - all will be cheap and easily available from any motor factors.

I drive a Lexus and fwiw, for its last service (a big one) I took it to a Toyota specialist I'd heard good things about. The bill was half what the dealer would have charged.
