Following some posts on the other thread, I just thought I'd ask peoples opinions on women getting cheaper car insurance. Would there be any difference in terms of political correctness if your skin tone determined whether you were eligible for a cheaper service based on statistics?

Keep it clean people :)

No, I don't think that is fair, simply because if it was the other way around, it would instantly be slaughtered down and forbidden by law due to the discrimination it was causing.
Discrimination goes both ways.

Just like I think it is wrong that one of the biggest online job-databases in Denmark has a special section if you want a female for a high status position. You can't search for men only for jobs, but apperently only wanting to hire females is alright. Hypocrits.

guilty of being male. i think the whole think is a fucking joke. as was said - if it were the other way around, the company in question would be completely slaughtered.

Agree that it's stupid.

If I created a "white people only" insurance I would be shot down in flames.
This is no different.

If its perfectly legal for an insurance company to refuse to insure you on the basis that you are a man (and not a woman), then surely for the same reasons, it would be legal for an insurance company to refuse to insure a black person?

>While section 29(2)(c) in Part III of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975

>where the treatment -

Sucks that a loophole has been made there for a blatent discrimination. Afterall, I PERSONALLY have never had a crash but am charged based on my genes; in the issue of morality I fail to see the difference between this and me being charged more for a local newspaper because I'm 'white' or whatever.

Wonder what would happen if someone introduced the MOWO awards.....

These days it's not discrimination as long as it's only for women.

It's not even about if it's legal, it's about the fact that society seems to think that there's nothing wrong with it. Try and create a mens only something and you'll have several thousands of screaing women ranting at you whether it's legal or not! Make something only for women and it's acceptable.

Give it a few years and women will be the only gender allowed to vote!

I would like to see what would happen if a guy tried to join one of these women only car insurance companies, wasn't allowed and then sued them for sexual discrimination...

The only exception I can think of is the freemasons club. I guess that's another way of discrimination against women though I guess but I can't even see that being outlawed even if it is male only. Someone try and name an american president who hasn't been a freemason... Not so sure about prime ministers here in the UK, I'd put money on maggie being the only non-free mason being prime minister though :(

Before anyone gets worried, I'm not on some kind of quest with any of this, just getting a bit pissed off with discrimination being OKAY in some areas and not okay in others; the whole thing sucks.

Sad but true. Positive discrimination is widespread in UK. I have a mate in UK who runs a small business in Reading. Last year I got into a big arguement with him on the issue of Discrimination. It started because he told me about a "black business forum" he attends. This forum, paid for by the local council in Berkshire is specifically designed to get minority owned businesses networking together. A bit like the chamber of commerce breakfasts and Lunches but for minority races only.

I wondered how he would feel if they had a whites only business forum. After about 20 minutes of argueing he actually agreed that it was wrong even though it had helped his business enourmously.

You don't cure discrimination by creating more of it. It's like fighting for peace, it never works.

I don't get that shit, like Hawkwind says.

Government makes funds for things that are totally stupid like, The Lesbian Black Womens football team, or something stupid.

When things like public transport, and the NHS are much big an issue.

I'd rather that my money goes to a reasonable cause, not some randoms just claiming money for their stupid group.

Anyway, back to insurance, personally i think women shouldn't be given cheaper insurance, i've seen some totally AWFUL drivers out there, and i havent even passed my test, 90% of them being women.

My driving instructor is a woman (lol) but shes a resonable driver, she doesnt fuck about doing her makeup in the car and shit like that.

I've seen countless numbers of women going along doing their stuff in the car.

One woman who crashed into my dads car, was on her mobile phone not concentrating, didn't brake what so ever, then tried to sue for whiplash with 3rd party insurance.

Didn't go very far ofc, but it shows their stupidity.

fuck em lads. half the time women dont even realise they are actually driving the car in the first place. they see 3 mirrors (4 if you count the thing that flaps down), and a seat and hop right in there to apply makeup and fuck with their hair.

theyl have a "doing your lippy" clause and other bollocks like that in their insurance policy. women are not safe drivers and if we can bundle them all in their own little group then we should be happy.

heres a news flash bitches ; ok you can multitask a bit, but doing your hair, applying eye shadow, talking on the phone and putting a tampon in while driving IS NOT SAFE.

Car insurance, argh.

One thing I did find amusing is the fact that the length you've held your driving license seems to have an effect on the insurance quote. Even though you could've passed your test at 17 and not driven for 3-4 years or so you're still considered less of a risk than someone who has more recently passed their test but may have more practice and more confidence.

As I'm currently 24 I'm currently eagerly awaiting my box of driving talent for when I turn 25! :D
