My son got knocked down by a car a couple of weeks ago, he ran into the road after the ice cream van and then looked to see if any cars were coming, rather than looking for cars when he was on the pavement.
He is ok just a cuople of bumps and bruises.
bloke who knocked him down lives in the same estate as me, he came round to the house this morning saying his insurance had gone u by £232 and he had to pay a £150 excess for his claim (his bonnet was scratched a litlle bit when Jake went up onto it).
he says he wants the £232 from me or his insurance will pursue his claim.
2 questions,
Surely the insurance firm want to pursue me for the actual total amount to fix the car.
if i pay this bloke £232, who says his insurance firm will not try and get any money from me, but the bloke says if i pay he will tell the firm not to contunue anything. But thats rubbish as what firm in their right mind would say "its ok bloke, you get your money and we dont get ours"
i said to him, get the insruance firm to write me a letter saying that if i pay you £232 you will not try to get any other money from me.
its an old pensioner and it wasnt really his fault that he now has to pay the extra on his premium.
what would you do ?
am i liable, is this a moral thing that i just need to pay as the guy is a pensioner, or is he just trying it on to get me to pay his extra premium?
