have a folder, its "read only". set it so you can write to it
come back, its "read only" again

its for a mtw2 mod so its rather annoying having to reset all sorts of settings every time, any thoughts ?

:(

Get Ownership of the Folder first (it's in the Advanced Tab), then when you are Owner of the Folders and the Files, go on and reset the Read-Only bit.

what is this ownership thing you speak of ?

check to see if a parent folder has read only rights and its forcing the folder to be read only

checked that, seems to be the folder above it that is causing it, thats in root c: but keeps going read only itself

arrgh stupid thing :(

/edit:
allowing indexing for faster searching or whatever wouldnt cause it would it ? :f

in XP you may need to go in through safe mode to claim ownership
