ugh, whenever oi decide to beome one class, someone else starts going ape saying they are gimp. in game, ive been told that savges rock at lvl 50, here, im being told i should be another class because of these damn BBs that plague the game, unbalancing it so much that a zen monk would have a heart attack and a few more in playing this game.

however, the some of you that arent going ZOMFG GET A BB THEY ARE TEH PWNZZORZ LOLZ and saying that without a BB i should just be a vamp. Thanks for the hints, and for the lot of you who say ZOMG ROLL VAMP IF YOU DONT WANT BB YOU n00B LOLZORZ. well lets just say the last time i went into the veil rift i felt very queasy :puke:.

okay....lets just put it like this, give me one class i should be,and give me CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM on the class, not OMG U SHUD BE SHAMAN BE CCUS THEY HEAL LOLZ, i want to know how useful they are and such, and initially, spellcasters are a PAIN to lvl at first due to AGGRO, thats right, the minute you get into CCQ, your fucked, very, very, fucked. (unless your in midgard and are a shaman or healer, least they have a chance in melee)

This game has been about for a long time now, and therefore unlike any newer mmorpg that has been released recently where people are testing specs and trying things, people have pretty much mastered what characters do things the best, perfect spec etc. Buffbots are a fairly obvious step for maxing the potential from characters. Everyone keeps saying for a solo class there is no point playing without a bot (This is not being ZOMFG elite anymore, this has become the standard), this is obvious because you are set at a major disadvantage to almsot everyone else stats wise which means your strikes will be slower, avoided more hit for less damage on average and you will have say a third less hps than most of your opponents (note this is not exact).

Now your choices as far as I can see are:
Play a stealther class SB/Hunter and rely on friends that you meet through playing the game to share you buffs, or you can group with other people in final RvR (this is generally frowned upon at this stage of the game as stealthers like to solo/duo)

Play a hybrid class such as a Thane that gets his own str/con buff, this class can go out soloing and have some success tho it will probably be very difficult to start at low RR, depending how busy the BGs (Battlegrounds) are these days you can potentially get msot of the base RA's fighting against fairly equal enemies as there might not be so much Bot use in later BG (From playing some on Excal this is changing with the way the game plays as well, and in the later BG there are people with capped gear bots and mls playing)

Play a Healer This option stops you doing almost anything solo quite frankly, however I would guess that it could be the best chance of getting RvR groups. This is because every RvR group uses at least 2 healers, usually split specced conecetrating on pac (Crowd Control) or Aug (melee haste and resist buffs) with backup in mend (healing) enough for spread heals. Playing a healer can be very interesting if a little stressful and lvling up a healer at this stage of the game might be very tricky as not much to group with (I can't speak for prydwen server as never played mid here for long).

Play a Shaman Fun character one of my personal favourite characters in the game, they are for want of better words a "glorified Buffbot" in PvE, you give people buffs then occasionally dot and throw some fairly average to bad heals about. In RvR they are a very important part of the group and every group needs a shaman which is nice if starting out looking for groups. There is not a massive need for a really high RR to get all that is needed on a shaman which is also a bonus. You duty in RvR is to buff, ghetto rezz if needed and most importantl annoy the hell out of opposition support whilst keeping anything and everything interupted and diseased. Might again be a little tricky to lvl at this stage, but can probably do task dungeons and stuff easily enough, getting groups could be tough as almost everyone in midgard will have a shammy bot and so will not have much need for you in low lvl PvE.

Play a Tank Zerker/Savage are the light tanks of mid and as such have the potential to kick out the most damage, they both do a very similar job in RvR endgame and that is to take out enemy fast there are different ways of playing this depdnign on groups you fight but that will come with experience. Now the differences between classes are that a zerker gets access to an RA called Charge UnCCable while active giving speed 3 and 15 seconds it lasts with varying re-use timers dependandt on level, the zerker also has access to banelord abilities which offer means to interupt and damage enemies. The savage has access to better styles (higher growth rates) with stuns but has no charge, instead has access to Battlemaster MLs which offer bodyguard and grapple for a more defensive break off when fighting, note usually a shield tank will be playing the BG role. Both light tanks get determination which is insanely overpowered atmo and means that you are almsot unCCable when det5 is accessed.

Play Heavy Tank Warrior can flip between aggressive and defensive very well, offering bodyguard to the group better than any other character in the game. A solid class with decent damage and great defense, your bog standard tank class.

Play a Caster Warlock is what is mostly regarded as a cheap class due to peoples beliefs that it takes little skill to play well. I have never personally played this class or felt any want to, but they can be a decent enough addition to a group, and you could probably get away with soloing with no buffbot on this character, leveling I got no idea and not sure how the mid/pryd community feels about grouping them.

Bonedancer the king of midguard interupt, they are sought after in groups although better at a higher RR they off interupts enough to completely screw over many of the enemies support they are a usefull class however I personally have never ever gotten a whole level in PvE withone it jsut didn't suit me at all :p.

Spirit Master is a nice class their intercepting pet can at times be like having a force field, however it cannot be relied on (I have only fought against this class and never played one) it has really decent DD nukes if specced darkness and pbae if specced suppresion, depending on what you want to try to do with regard RvR at end game then supporesion might be worth thinking about, however combined with ml9 pet the SM is a really nice class to have in an 8man group and I can only recomend it as being a decent choice. (Note that with a buffbot and a slightly different spec this is potentially the best lvling caster)

Runemaster I have played against on camlann the PvP server and there was a stage where self debuffing nukers were just hitting it bigtime (becomming FoTM) and a guild there was running 2 of these and causing some difficulty, this was however during the time when Det was not worth getting for tanks, a nice caster with access to nearsight which is nice and also big damage, should imagine there is room for these in most PUGs however it would now be 3rd choice caster for me on mid, with SM or BD depending on playstyle ahead of it.

I left out Skald as at present there can be little need for them, however they do offer SoS as well as pretty decent damage output they ofc can give the group the fastest speed and can interupt decently as well as being a pretty fun character to play.

Alternatively to all the above drivvel you could wait until they create a classic server and go play there, where everyone will start off without RR advantages over you and grouping with people might acctually happen at a lower level. There will ofc still be lots of information that people will know about and still be optimised groups etc, but that is to be expected as games get older people figure out more about them like what works most efficiently etc. However classic server will be little need for a bot, except maybe PvE. Which would mean you can go a shadowblade there and not worry about a bot, ofc we only have the yank servers to take into concideration as to what has happened on other classic servers and it seems stealthers aren't played all that much currently.

Hope any of that helps, if you managed to read through it. I appologise for any spelling mistakes, miss information (Never played DAoC properly since ToA, so feel free to diss me and say I know nothing etc) and my bad grammar :(.
