Im going to move to prydwen after seeing that excalibur is kinda retarded.....(that and after going through the veil rift, i felt very queasy) so anyways, i cant decide on picking a xclass, id preferably choose midgard as my realm though...

at first i wanted to be a shadowblade, yet i kept getting spammed that to be a shadowblade. you have to get a second account for a buffbot else you cant do anything at all....this is disheartening, as i wanted to break out of the old I LIKE SWORDS and PL:ATE AND SHIELDS LOLZ routine. :(

i really just want to use a usefull group friendly class for RvR without being a gas station....any help?

You didn't really narrow it down for us, you can't decide between a shadow blade or a group friendly char? Excuse me for being stupid but what do you mean by a gas station?

Support chars are always useful and there are never enough good RvR shaman around, you don't have to worry about having a buffbot either as you have all the buffs you will need. Healers are also very useful but harder to level as they virtually always need to be in a group.

If you hate being a support class then zerker or warrior would probably be best as tank groups are currently the best. Skalds or savages will also get groups.

oh, sorry, forgot about that, anyways, what i mean by a gas station is a healer...ive tried being that kind of character in other games and i didnt like it.

savages do sound nice, but ive heard they practicly eat themselves........its a keeper though :)

guess il go experiment on a shadowblade right now, if i dont like that, il just choose another class,

Healers is a blast tbh. Nothing more rewarding than getting a mess in. Their name is kinda missleading as we got loads of other stuff to do than heal. Loads of good lighttanks outthere allready, so will be hard getting into grps. Only thing thats hard to get is a good bg'er, auger, shaman or pacci.

the spiritmaster with darkness spec looks interesting, good damge spells with AOE mez spells for close and long range. and debuffs to boot.....

shamans can heal and damage, much like a friar, cept he doesnt use staveskill.....very nice..:D

Hunters are a nice combo of ranged combat, close combat, and some stealth thrown in too, nice.

Runemasters also seem very interesting, with ther own darkness spec, and runes. neato!

Savages do eath themselves, but if i learn to not overload the savagery spells, the class looks damn good!

Thanes are fightiers with some 'positively hocking' spells and hammers. yep looks good on paper. but what about out in the field?

I almost forgot about skalds, fighting WITH support songs? SWEET!
and if all else fails....then il just go be a warrior, nothing can go wrong with that.

Healers are one of the most fun class in Midgard if you are not aiming for a damage dealer. I know the other realms see Mid Healers as just what they are named but well, there is a reason you see 2 or 3 in a group usaly. And thats that 1 cant spec for everything and even if he could he couldnt do everything. :) Shamans are fun too.

Forget about Hunters. Pain in the ass since they are the worst of all stealther classes.

Runies and Spiritmasters are nice and you have the choice to spec them for damage or utility.

Thanes? The only special thing about them is Static Tempest if you ask me. Other than that Valkyries are superior to them... and people keep saying Valks suck.

id make a shaman as a first charecter, should be able to solo with some decent cave and get your own buffs, if you get a decent guild tat will help you with ToA will be good and not many shams rvring

tbh dont make the same mistake as me and roll a hunter as 1st char, you'll end up being fcked for cash and in pve, roll a shammy or sm then pl yourself a stealther if you have to.

Savages do lose a lot of hp from shouts, but coming DR expansion, you can chose healer subclass and get a small base heal, which is probably what I'll be going for. 1on1, savages stand a chance against any class out there, especially past rr5 with Blissful Ignorance (ALL shouts at once without hp loss), and if you solo, ml10 warlord is extremely handy with 25ABS buff in melee encounters.

These are just my own personal observations, but since I started the game, the savage has been my favourite class of all, despite the big nerf they had a while ago.

Runemasters, great damage, my own is not extremely toa'd, but decently so, and can dish out very nice dmg with 50dark/20supp - fun class, but can be annoying if you get assist trained each fight you meet. Can also be specced differently for more util and less dmg if that floats your boat.

Have fun.

Tell me any set grp, which runs with runie? They drop too easy, where as a sm has much more survivability with lt + intercepting pet.

They have access to battlemaster, ie. BG + grapple, valks dont.

if you don't have a BB, don't pick savage.
savage is the worst solo class without BB.

take warrior good defence and good hammer styles in pve if you don't have end bufs.
or thane if you wanna have better FG vs FG utillity.

I will have to agree, my bb went OOP from healing my savage between fights, and this was around level 30-35. Had to use FoP to be able to keep a decent tempo.

just....shut up about damn buffbots. i am NOT going to use them....

.....PERIOD

thats because although my shouts do take HP, they are what makes me stronger. yet some of you go whien about EVERY CLASS NEEDS A BB OR ELSE THEY ARE n00bS LOLZ, so just stop talking about it alright? i dont freaking care if you consider me 'gimp' even. :twak:

and about blissfull ignorance, sounds like the swift ninja that deals the death blow, the wolf in sheeps clothing, the savage going goku on some por sod.

Well shouts are more than haste, dps and evade shout.. it's also melee resists, parry buff and end heal, so all 10 shouts (All 3 ranks of end heal will be fired) combined in 1 single spell, and you'll not only hit hard and fast, but also take very low dmg from others, as well as evade and parry loads. Combine that with ml10 warlord (25ABS) and battler charge and you'll be indestructible..... for 15seconds atleast. :)

still...anwyays, now im curious in what to sp[ec in, right now im doing HtH first, then savagery, then if i have leftovers. parry....

plus, 15 seconds of ownage is quite good.

my HtH is priumary, savagery secondary, and parry teritry or however you spell it, is it possible to go like this?

Spec depends a lot on which weapons you plan on using. Atm I'm using 2x salamander tails (spd 4.4 thrust h2h weapon) and with 44 h2h 49 savagery 4 parry, 10% melee speed from ToA template, 39% haste from shouts and 251 quickness buffed, I cap my swing speed. With faster weapons you'll need less haste or quickness to cap swing speed, but damage will also be lower.
Either go
>44h2h, 49savagery, 4parry
or
>50h2h, 42savagery, 9parry

Those are the 2 specs I've tried playing with and both worked out great. The 2nd I used from ding 50 until ToA arrived and I got my first sally tails, then I respecced to the other one for more haste.

Other specs may also be viable of course, these are just the 2 I've had experiences with in the h2h line. Then there are the 2h specs, but there's really only 1 way to go there imho and that's the first spec and just replace the h2h with hammer (sword and axe are not as useful as hammer as I see it).

Zerkers work good too. More controlled damage spikes than savage & charge & banelord stuff.

If roll zerker, 15str, 10qui, troll is my advice so you can hit 450str, 250qui laters.

Savage spec 44 weapon, 49 savagery feels best. Will see how my 2h savvy works with 434 str...soon. :D

Agreeing with brite. I'd roll a vamp too if I didn't want to use a buffbot.

If you really really want to play mid, go for bd or dark sm. You won't survive long in open field without buffs, so you need something that works from keep walls. Forget about melee classes.
