Cant get into BIOS

I recently bought a new monitor - went from CRT to TFT, when the TFT boots up there is no bootup screens so i cant get into BIOS - I have just chucked a new soundcard in to replace the standard mobo one and I cant seem to enable it - thought going into BIOS and disabling the mobo one might work but I can't get into BIOS - have even just hooked up my old CRT and for some reason on bootup that doesnt show the bootup screens anymore...

completely stumped me - anyone got any ideas?

Or is there a way I can disable to mobo sound from desktop? Have installed the new drivers but that didnt help

just tried the obvious like holding DEL/F2 when the PC is first turned on?

Yeah but there are no boot up screens - the first screen to appear is the windows sign on bit with the blue backscreen etc.

Even if I press del/esc the screen just stays black - the monitor itself doesnt seem to boot up until its on the XP page.
