All offa sudden I can't login to msn? Windows firewall = off. Switching off Online Armor firewall does nothing. Computer is upto date with the latest service packs and stuff. If I download and install a new version of msn I can login. If I reboot the computer I can't. Any ideas?

Nope.. try Pidgin, the universal chat client .. it's much better as a chat client (long as you don't use video).. That doesn't help much if you like msn but diagnostically speaking, if pidgin doesn't connect after a restart then you can be reasonably sure it's not a client issue.

Is there an error message?

Assuming you've not solved this. MSN was down for a few people I knew last night, server side problem. Should be a happy-bunny by now.

My msn been acting like this for about a week. Still the same now. Think it started happening after an auto-update occured on xp. Happened some time ago too but I can't remember how I cured it.

pidgin is great, ionstaleld it today after a few recommendations. Unifies all your chat networks, and there is a facebook chat plugin as well. And no damned ad bar :)

Nevermind, you just don't put in anything in the service box for auth, just fill in the password

Pidgin sure is impressive and works a treat.

Nice recommendation.

Cheers.
