Hi there

Can someone explain to me what happens....

in RvR land - amongst the stealthers? I will soon be adding a Shadowblade into the pot and was wondering what actually happens.

Correct me if I'm wrong (which I probably am), but do the Albs have Stealthers that include the Scout / Minstrel and Infiltrators?

And the Hibs have Stealthers that include Nightshades and Rangers?

And what can each race do to detect the other?

I've heard that our Archer guys that can stealth get picked off as they can't see other stealthers....I know that Shadowblades can "see hidden", so I take it there is this underworld of Invisible people kicking the crap out of each other, a sub war that is almost unseen by the majority of the other people playing....

All I really need to know is basically does each stealther creep about, and then when they see eachother, charge and go for the kill, trying to stun eachother with styles, and whoever gets the first hit wins?

OR

Do stealthers AVOID eachother, and then pick off the weaker casters of each realm or people that are resting?

And can all stealthers creep into forts up those little ladder things on the walls?

Loads of questions :)

PS I've almost finished Warcraft III, so will be coming back for more DAOC soon. I find that without a little break here and there, xping seriously does your brain in :)

SB can see..scouts and rangers and minstralls...

Infiltrators cant be seen nor nightshades and they cant see shadowblades..

Scouts and rangers can get truesight which lasts for 1 min on a 30 min timer where they can see all stealthers..

Hope this helps
And no if you run into an infiltrator or nighshade you will fight them..

All three realms' archer and assassin classes can stealth. In addition, Albion has the minstrel class which can also stealth.

In general, their stealth hides them from everybody else, including other stealth classes. BUT:

Assassin classes get an ability called "Detect Hidden", which increases the range at which they can uncover other stealthed players. Archers and minstrels don't get this.

Assassin classes can spend 8 Realm Rank points and purchase the See Hidden ability, which lets them see through all archer/minstrel stealth, all the time, at maximum range.

Archer classes can spend 10 Realm Rank points and purchase the True Sight ability, which lets them see through all archer/assassin/minstrel stealth for 60 seconds, once every 30 minutes.

A new ability will given to archer classes in the next patch called Camouflage (we don't have this on the European servers yet). This lets archers stealth work even against assassins who have See Hidden, as long as the archer has been out of combat for 10 minutes. Minstrels don't get this.
Do stealthers AVOID eachother, and then pick off the weaker casters of each realm or people that are resting?
Assassins prey on archers, they are optimized to be archer killers.
And can all stealthers creep into forts up those little ladder things on the walls?
Only assassins.

There are three things of import here:

Detect hidden
See hidden
True sight

There are two classes of stealthers: assassins and non-assassins.

assassins: shadowblade/infiltrator/nightshade

They can be seen by non-stealthers at point blank range...
They can see other stealthers via detect hidden at short to medium range.

If they spend 8 RA points on See Hidden, they can see the 'shadowy outline' of the non-assassin stealthers, no matter what the range. i.e. where you'd see a mercenary standing, if it was a stealthed scout you'd see the transparent outline. This is always on.

There's a bug that makes them 'pop' into full view for a second before going transparent which makes this all the more powerful at the moment - it's fixed next patch. Also next patch the archer-stealthers get 'camouflage' which makes them immune to 'see hidden' as long as they've not attacked anyone in the previous ten minutes.

Truesight:

This is given to Scouts, Hunters and Rangers. Once every 30m they can see everyone who's stealthed and is in visible range - very powerful, very nasty.. but only once every 30m.
Not sure if this is 'transparent outline' or 'full vision' - I'm guessing the latter? someone who has it can post :)

as to what they do when they find each other - haven't a clue :)
depends on the stealther, and whether or not the other one sees/relative levels...

Scouts rangers and hunters don't exist, they all got killed off.
Minstrels largely don't stealth. SBs and their ilk tend to run around ganking people alone, and tripping over the other 29474 assassins out there. :p

with regards to an invisibale war happening, no, once a class attacks - both the attacker and intended victim lose their stealth...

Minstrels largely don't stealth

*coughs*

I'm biased by prydwen Nol, where there's about 1 SB/square foot in emain. :p

in regards to do assassins kill each other when they see each other this all depends really ive had a few encounters with stealthers who simply just /salute etc others you will meet and do battle so its not all simply kill every stealther u see.

and in regards to who ever gets the 1st hit wins answer yes and no if they have IP it takes longer if they dont its 1st hit wins.

archers ain't dead yet and will never be :D

as for Truesight, u when u press the button its just like if u had see hidden, the stealther (what class thosen't matte) popps in for a sec and then is a shadow just like if a non-stealther see the shadow of a stealther next too him.

pwnz assassins, its ur 1sec of revenge every 30mins :flame:

Thanks for the replies peeps - it's certainly opened my eyes as to what happens out there in stealth land.

I know for a fact quite a few stealthers travels in 2-3's and more, so it's going to be interesting to see what happens once I get in a SB group and go hunting too :)

I can't wait! :p

Omg can i transfer my scout to prydwen, because with that many
sbs it would be fun, and quite decent rp :)

Imo scout + minstrel > 2 sb's, so i guess you guys dont play
much together there.

Slam is nice for scout, and it will make a 1on1 more exciting, but
still the assasin has 80/20 advantage atleast, not counting IP in.
Hunter and rangers have it worse against assasins, but they do
have their spells, which makes them better archers.

TS is nice, but most useful for scouts in groups. Most assasins run when hit, and you may not be able to kill him before he gets away. Here hunters and rangers have advantage with speed shout to close in on a fleeing assasin.

Yes assasins are nice classes to play, but with ip, epic armor, purge you might find it quite difficult to kill. Basically you have little time, and often you will be found by others while killing someone. If you look at rp/weeks for sb's you will see its decent,
but not xtreme. Also with the wast numbers of sb's it may become
more difficult to find those juicy single targets.

Oh and btw when ever you see a nice juicy scout he normally has an assasin near him to backstab or PA you when you get near...oh and if you see kinad run as he normally fires up TS at just the right time :p

Lately I have found that the SB's and NS's dont attack me solo.
They find me, run off to find a skald or dr00d or whatever, then find me again (not very hard with SH), and only then do they gank me.

Think it has something to do with my Ignore Pain and buffbot.

Well a stealth team does leave you with interesting variations to play the game. This morning till early in the afternoon I had the pleasure to run along in a stealth team composed of a minstrel and 2 infils, me being one of the infils. Most fights we let our victims just run past us, drop out of stealth and run em down from behind not even worrying about PA. I'am sure that anyone who had the displeasure of encountering this little terror squad has to agree it was very effective. By the end of the session we made about 20K for 1 to 2 deaths each. Stealth adds a new dimention to the game and I love it. It's just as different from playing a tank as it is to play a caster and not just a variation to the tank. Btw thanks to steph and Raisen for a lovely game session :) lets do it again soon.

hehe

I'm glad to see people interested in this post.

I have a dream. My dream is that eventually battles will be fought in waves. Initially, a STEALTH wave goes in and kills the casters / rezzers / other stealthers out there, then a FAST MEZZER wave, which consists of half of your mezzers + the fast runners (Skalds in midguard) charge in mezzing and stunning, landing the spells and running, then once everyone is mezzed, the RAMPAGE wave where all the zerkers / thanes / runeys / warriors destroy the stunned and mezzed people.

That's the plan :)

Also I want our damn relic back!

One day, one day :)

You have a buffbot called Wuzz and thought it was an amusing coincidence?

sheezuz, I am going to have to paint a picture here...

I find it amusing that Ody only has one buffbot(Wuzz), most of "Teh Labion" have at least 2...Aussie for example has this cute little cleric hanging out the front of the TK, and he has a speedbot too(I think it's name is anniekey or something)...

sheesh - you could have let your speedbot kick my ass solo...no need to make me your pincushion :p

4 SBs > scout + minstrel.
I've seen SBs take out 5 people including tanks at once before. They operate in LARGE groups, not solo or pairs.
