I think my authory e-mail is playing up. Some people don't seem to be recieving mail from (including my own hotmail address). I was wondering if someone with multiple e-mail addresses, or several people with different ones, could PM me their address and I could send them a test e-mail, and then you could let me know if you recieve it?

If it is glitching, I will have to summon poor old Jonty, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just my hotmail playing up, and me being nuerotic about other e-mails going wandering.

I will express my gratitude through the medium of MS paint.

I get a lot of aol mails bounced back to me, but the hotmail mails get sent, they just never seem to arrive. Wondering if the AOL thing is just coincedence, with kids not writing their address properly, and the hotmail thing is the actual problem.

Course, if I understood a thing about computers, I would probably have a better clue. Me trying to work this out is a little like someone performing heart surgery after practicing by playing Operation.

Yeah, first thing I did. And sent a couple more to myself to check. Never used to be a problem - I quite often send myself files and they always used to show up.

You've got to bear in mind that these are quite young kids, so some of them might be filling out the e-mail address wrong, but the aol kid has written to me umpteen times now, same address each time, so it's not a typo. Now with that added to the mystery of hotmail, I'm getting worried just how many e-mails aren't reaching people, but from everyone here it looks like all but the hotmail ones are getting through.

God no - that's a bit advanced for me There's a box on my website you can e-mail me through, and you fill in the return address. I just e-mail back individually.

Dont get me started on email issues I've been at it for over a week at work trying to sort out some 550 errors myself here.. funnily enough hotmail works for us, but not anything hosted by BTConnect
AOL always was "blocked" for us because we were missing our Reverse Pointer address, which is being rectified now by the people who manage our domain name.

It could be honestly anything as 550 is one of the most vague error messages to come from SMTP servers.

if every message bounces back from AOL then you know its a reverse pointer problem and you can nag your hosting provider to get that checked and sorted out.
(but i doubt that very much as its a web hosting provider and probably set that up ASAP when they put in a mail server)

AOL problem is simple, the kid has entered their email address wrongly. The wonders of auto form completion mean that them getting it wrong in the same way multiple times proves absolutely nothing thesedays.

The hotmail message you pasted is just the same thing, worded differently.

It translates to 'No' - really difficult to misinterpret. (Well, more specifically 'No, and dont bother trying later either' but bleh).

And as for your comment on AOL, bleh theres a million reasons why theyd reject your mail, that being only one of them. The other 999,999 are here
