would it be possible that we just put our heads together and try to think of a way to solve the following problems.


Powerlevelling : the most appealing form of xp'ing
<<<problem: a pl'er want to sit on his lazy ass to be able to click target and nuke.... short : just be lazy and do nothing else but click.. this means that one spot will become a CAMP wich one is not entitled to do for starters... claiming will be done... all problems start here.....

hmmm, this won't be easy since most pl spots are normal xp spots and vise versa....

i have no clue on how to solve this... and if we have to let common sence of youngsters/adults do the works we will keep on having the "flaming threads" here. Always will, always shall and always have problems.
I will not be the person to use my humbleness to move away if while sharing a spot when i get downtime... i just switch to slower pl characters... same result eventually. And i will not move because someone tries to nuke me from a spot by draining it... the draining of that spot only show the common sence of the "drainer" as i will call em now.

maybe the only sollution is : Slow down a bit, ease up... get a grip.. if it ain't today you ding, it'll be tomorrow.
And i have been in these type of discussions myselfe.. i don't like em, always seem to get my teeth kicked in because i don't uphold 'fictional community rules'. (and i won't) And if you really need to ding, take a five minut break to move to another spot maybee, dunno

Its quite simple really, if someonelse is already at a spot, move on, leave them to it. If someone hussles in on your spot, don't start screaming and shouting, be polite.....in all my time in DAoC since beta, I don't think I've once had a problem with people muscling in on our exp spots because I don't act like an asshole and flip my lid at some1 who has just arrived.

My biggest problem isn't the PLer, So, he sits at a spot all day and chain kills the same mob over and over. Its his time, He's paying/paid for it, He can do with it what he needs. Also my problem isn't the camp jumper. The bloke that comes along and jumps into an alrdy camped spot. The starts to pull the same mob over and over. He also pays for for the time, Admittingly its a bit lame, But its allowed. My problem isn't even the guy that claims that the spot was his then proceeds to kill an alrdy pulled mob. A quick blast on a few screen shots and a post to right now gives him a 3 day rest. My problem is.... The constant whining and posting of such problems here on Barrysworld, Its either a flame at a guild Just coz this player was/is a member of that guild. Ors its just plain boring as fuckin wet paint.

The spot 'ownership' thing I've never been a fan of.

imo, the polite thing to do if you are camping a spot and someone else arrives is to share the damn spot. I don't care how small or large the spot is, or whether you believe it can support 2 groups, it's not your spot. You own the pull, not the camp.

If gets too busy for you, you find a quieter spot.

But I'm in a minority on this, and so I go along with the accepted etiquette.

And it's not something that is going to be resolved until MMOG devs accept that stationary spawn point camping is not a desirable game mechanic.

As for the PLer. The real harm done by the PLer is that as more people become PL capable, it becomes less practical for new players to enter the game (to the point where true newbies are practically shut out) due to the lack of groups.

But there is no way to solve that unless MMOG devs accept that groups take time and effort to form, and so if they want groups to be the most effective way to level then you need a significant advantage in the xp gain rate of the group just to 'pay for' the overhead of forming the group in the first place. Basically this means dividing xp earnt by a smaller number than the number of players in a group. (which daoc does, but not by enough of a margin to make grouping with newbies worth the effort)

Personally I'd be in favour of just giving everyone in a group full xp for every kill as if they'd soloed it.

I'm not sure you can do much more as a community though, since the vast majority of people playing are pretty reasonable about things, and so the courtesy is already there. If the majority of people genuinely believe that they 'own' a camp if they start pulling their first, then that is decision of the community, and it pretty much explains why everyone behaves pretty reasonably so long as you accept that people feel that they 'own' the camp they are pulling from.

With a few class/spec exceptions (cabalists over level 46 etc) there are a *lot* of camps if all you are after is xp.

if one is waiting for a mob...... as i stated a million times, there is no sign on his ass stating that he is there for a reason ;-), if a person is running away from that spot ( as i was when the theft incident started) and accidentally sees that mob a mile away from that persons ass, i will have to deal with that mob ;-) because it aggroed me. That other person has no right to steal it from me because he was sleeping or afk or whatever reason he had for beeing there on the other side of the zone
