I got this back from a contact i have within a large organisation. I have had emails go through fine but today i got this back:

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of
its recipients. The following addresses failed:

<censored@censored>

SMTP error from remote server after MAIL command:
host censored[CENSORED IP ADDRESS]:
CENSORED IP ADDRESS <myemail@myemail>... Access denied

Does that mean that my sales lead is dead and my email address has been blocked?

the mail server at their end might just have fallen over for a little while just when you were trying to send the message. Try again perhaps? Maybe ring them and ask?

Access denied normally means that the acocunt doesn't exist or they have blacklisted/spamlisted your address

My first thought would be that the mail server in question is running some RBL (Realtime BlackList) and your IP is on it

Is your mail client sending email direct, or via your ISP's SMTP server? If the former, set it to the latter and try again (many people just block all known dialup and DSL IP blocks). If the latter then contact your ISP about it so they can check if they've gotten on some RBL they'll want to get off of.

Hi Rubric

Just a quick post, but you're not with Telewest per chance, are you? I ask only because ~900,000 of their email addresses were recently blacklisted by an anti-spam agency. I doubt this is the cause of your problems, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Kind Regards
