Boulder Dash worked for me also - just pressed CTRL after a bit and it worked ... use arrow keys to move around.

The Lurking Horror is easily one of the best Adventure Games ever. Albeit with incredibly hard puzzles at times.

The best had to be these and this one.

Absolutely fantastic game - loved it when you got past all the first sets of levels so they inverted the screen :D

C64 got the wonderful Boulderdash, the Beeb got the pile of crap that was Repton (spelling?)

BBC had a classic in the form of Imogen.

A windows remake can be downloaded for free from here.

Don't forget defender on the Beeb - amazing scroll speed and gameplay, and of course the original and best Elite :)

The Repton series were my first introduction to computer gaming. Computer club after school in my 5th year at Primary School was supposed to be about learning. Instead it turned into an early form of LAN party, although minus the smokes and beers. Mr Wright, best teacher on earth.

A similar thing occured during, what was tentitivly called, activities week. I ignored the trips to skiing resorts due to my inherent in-populatiry, fear of flying and general nerdeness and instead signed up for a week playing with Amigas. Again, this was supposed to be teaching CAD on the Amiga. Instead it turned into a BYOC LAN party with more illegal file sharing than you see on eDonkey. I do believe the most copied games that year were Prince of Persia and some 3D racing game with a big assed car/truck :)

My frustrations are currently being tied up with Last Ninja 1 (c64).
That's my classic game - looks great on PSP too
