Thoughts? I think Newcastle are fooling themselves if they honestly think they can get someone to do a better job with the state of the team at the moment.

How much money is it going to cost them to pay off souness and find someone else? Do they not realise results will slide even further in the interim.

Firing Souness will have sky rocketed the player's morale. He's terrible, Newcastle will be infinitely better off without him - I hope Souness never manages top flight football again, he's completely hopeless at it.

I can see Shearer becoming the boss next season... Dont know why, i just can...

Have been reports of Sam Allardyce possibly taking over too, if they do get Sammy im sure results will change for the better, but the sacking was a long time in coming.

I dont see Allardyce leaving a team pushing for a top 6 finish, still in the UEFA cup and playing well for Newcastle.

As bad as Souness was, he did build a good squad -it's just that they are all injured. Will be intresting to see if any of souness's big money signings stick around...

Training consisting of 5 a side and jogging, tactics were non-existant, being a bully & generally getting rid of people that dared to stand up to him. Backroom staff that were no better (see mark hughes comments after taking over Blackburn after souness left - the least fit team he had ever seen) leads me to believe our much vaunted injuries were caused by the man and his staff themselves.

What certainly was caused by the man himself was buying the odd few excellent players (Parker, Emre - even the injury prone Owen, and overpriced Luque to some extent) but selling way too many, especially from our pitiful defence. We're left with a thin squad, and Boumsong & Bramble - that money on Owen could have got us 4 decent solid defenders. or even better, dont sell O'Brien and Hughes.

Whats bloody worse is waiting until the transfer window closes before sacking him, now we can't even get some temps in on loan...

Not that I'm that bitter, but I hope he gets a fucking hamstring himself lugging his 3 million blood money away from St James's - he held out long enough for them to sack him, when he should have walked - and he knew it.

Anyway, us Geordies are a hardy bunch. I'm already building up a new batch of blind faith that we can finally do what we've been threatening to do for my whole fucking life, and win something :)
Just dont let Roeder (the relegation specialist) cover for long. I'm sure he can coach well enough, but stick a managers title on him and you get relegated...

(edited for spelling etc)

Never understood how Souness has managed to have a managerial career for so long; he did well at Rangers (but lets be honest, there wasn't much competition at the time), and he's had the odd flash of success but a lot more bad seasons than good, and by all accounts he's a bit of a twat.

There's a great story going around in 'media' circles about him at the moment, which is so unbelievable it might be true. Fucking funny if it was.

Martin O'Neill could probably do a job at Newcastle.

Got to agree with Kari tbh, there has been a massive problem at Newcastle with injuries, although I will say not just since Souness came, I think the whole support team needs to be looked at.

Using Steven Taylor as an example, Newcastles best defender this season by a mile, gets injured playing for England U21's (his Shoulder) they advise Newcastle to get him operated on to avoid further damage. He goes out and plays and injures the shoulder and is out for close to 10 weeks. It is an absolute joke.

Souness has brought in some very good players this year, the problem is every newcastle manager forgets all about the defensive problems and buys midfielders and strikers. Robert as an example, then he gets moaned at for not defending. Why the fuck do you need a winger to defend all game?

Robert fucking pires hardly evers tackles back cause he knows that Cole will sort it out and then he can have a run at their right back.

Shearer should just fuck off. Hes a fucking legend and he only does what is right for the club but he is an arrogant cock and I feel for any manager walking in and trying to sort him out. Souness complained about the team having no pace. He should have dropped Shearer and stuck some 17 year old on that can run like fuck, atleast then your causing the other team problems.

Its not hard to play against Newcastle anymore, Leave Shearer unless he comes in the box and get your forwards to move more than 2 mph (guaranteed to fool Bramble and Boumsong).

the above = win against Newcastle.

That added to the fact on the SkySports News channel they interviewed fans outside St James park today, I swear 9 out of the 10 the interviewed was a Smack head, no fucking hair or teeth and thick as shit.

Not all football supporters from Newcastle are fucking jobless *****. but when Owen signed the papers were full of omg look at the 20k people coming to see Owen. The government should have put a fucking Jobs fair on outside the Stadium and watched at how many turned up then.

Fuck it.

While you cant really defend souness' managerial ability, I still think it is utter foolishness to sack him now. At least if they had let him go at the end of the season they could have bought someone in to rebuild over the summer.

Then again had Sheperd not, he would have been on the fans hitlist himself. Which lets face it, is the real problem at Newcastle.

yes especially after the transfer window has closed now who ever comes in will have the same old crap. Newcastle need someone of the George Graham mould who will concentrate on defense first. Newcastles problem is like what Tottenham have come through.

Everyone thinks they are a big club when really its only the fanbase that is big. The fans wouldnt have a defense minded team because they are all hooked up on the rollercoaster that was Kevin Keagan.

The five live chappy was saying that if Newcastle appoint a contender for the England job, then it rules them out of the race to manage England, so I cannot see someone like Allardyce managing them. Martin o'Neill is a good bet as Lazarus says, they could always gamble and poach a championship manager, perhaps someone young like Bothroyd at Watford, or maybe Neil Warnock from Shef United.

Newcastle is a medicore dreamer team who think they will make the top 2-3 every season and every season they fail.

Seriously when did this team last win something?

This team died when Keagan left everyone knows that they have never recovered since he left.

6 Games unbeaten

COME ON - ALAN SHEARERS BLACK AND SHITE ARMY!!

Playing to our strengths, slapping the ball wide and putting crosses in. Emre and Parker are solid, Zoggy is on fire and what the hell has Roeder done to Boumsong? He looked half decent against Bolton

Lets not be silly now. ;)

I'm quite angry actually. The only enjoyment I was getting out of this season was watching Newcastles decline.

Waddle must be gutted. He was backing Sourness all the time. Yes he did have bad luck with injuries but it shows you even without Owen and Shearer we can still win games.

So sorry Sourness, but you are one shite manager!
