These are my improved d/l rates.. if anyone has a BY 2mb would be cool to see that maxed out with the new ceiling... post a pic. I would be interested to see how this compares to a Nildram 2mb / 1mb , so if you have a Nildram account post a screenie of a 50meg d/l.

For BY customers download this file : (Q3UrT ut_mappack - gah! PQ3 is down for repairs - any BY based d/l of 50meg in size would be cool)

Take a screenie at least 1 minute in and at the end..... between 17:00 - 20:00 gmt is a good idea too. This isn't meant to be an exact study, just for those curious...

Anyone used to Janet speeds, or been at uni for the past four years knows that 3 megabits isn't exactly rocket .

Althought I miss the insane download rates of Janet and the glory days of Napster before the RIAA intervened, i'd still prefer a better upload speed.

10 people, all on P2P sharing progs, the fastest anyone can download from someone is 25k per sec. Rock on Tommy, what a white elephant.

2 cheap bonded 512/256 dsl lines, you can get for just about £50. That'll give you 1mbit/512k.

That would be a sweet setup from a P2P / gaming point of view, although with most Uk servers I seem to never ping above 30, which is plenty really, so I suppose it would mainly appeal to P2P users +other apps? I suppose the majority of online activity involves the d/l speed i.e receiving mail, downloading etc. In which case do you feel that BY offers one of the most competitively priced Cable lines in the UK?

I will always be the first to moan about big corps taking the customer for a ride, but I have to say in 4 years of using BY cable internet access I have had only about 4 hours of down time, the support is great and the service is super fast IMO. All round I am dead pleased. One thing I find strange about the BY page regarding the 50% faster promotion and the FAQ page, is no mention of gaming at all. I have heard BY is poised for big things regarding a console platform in the future it just makes me wonder why they failed to mention their broadband capabilities and gaming??

I'm also dead interested in how the cable / game performance 'in game' is with the same connection when using a console over a PC, I have yet to use my XBOX live facility yet. If anyone has any tales of woe or otherwise it would be cool to hear them, what makes the console / cable hybrid so great or bad, if thats the case. Appreciate its the same connection regardless, I'm interested in the processes behind the scenes and how it affects your game.....

The company my girlfriend works for are currently working on trials of joined sdsl lines.... I want 24mb sdsl with no contention for home use...

Most i've ever seen a home user have is a 10mb leased line though, that was fast.
