maxpackets is what you send to the server (in reality never much more than 50/s).

Been through this a few times and we all know that cablers DO affect isdn'ers but nobody quite knows how or has any proof. Its one of those mysterious things..
Oranj you've had adsl ever since q3 has been out irrc so you probably wouldn't know..

Harshg should be deleted for the simple reason that its biased, and in the league you play 2 different maps. So whoever chooses blue wins.

And yeh i agree harshg is a pants map, totally, its like a ra3 map gone wrong, only with flags, and the map designer was getting bored as he finished off one of the bases.

japanc is a bit tight, but i like mapel4nobfg a lot, its open and a refreshing change..

And about timenudges..

Setting aside from the maxpackets caps and snaps stuff (which if you care i think should be capped at 30 for maxpackets and 8000 for rate as that would be fair on nearly everyone, discuss all you like :)..

Its about timenudges:

A while ago (in the Division 1 DM playoffs) We played against a clan called SoN and in the first game we just thought it was their european connections causing them to warp.. When we finally got a couach onto the server he kept a check on the snaps packets etc and noticed that the ENTIRE enemy team had greatly changing timenudges, presumably which changed for each weapon.
Now for this i'm not just talking -25 for railgun and return to 0 for other weapons, this was huge changes for each and every weapon. Their timenudges ranged from -15 to -110 and this was being changed constantly for each player. This has been talked about on quite a few websites and is considered to be a cheat as it makes the opposing team warp so badly they become almost impossible to hit.

I know this would be VERY hard to referee but maybe theres a timenudge monitor or maybe the refs could type \players a few times during the game and keep and eye out.

We continued playing the playoff game and ended up winning by quite a lot, even if we wern't able to use direct hit weapons as such, as they basically didn't hit.

This is probably the most important restriction of all as the maxpackets setting merely floods isdn'ers, this makes players impossible to shoot at..

Re: And about timenudges..

Adding to my previous quote I'd like to say, I know a few euros actually do have warpy connections, and some UK'ers too, and its not their fault, this can't be helped I'm afraid its just when players do it deliberately..

thanks again..

I don't see the problem with timenudge. Maybe I don't understand the way it workz (maybe no-one does) but I thought it was either:

-When positive a ping simulator (useful for offline practice with RG for you 56kers
-When negative it basically predicts

I think you'll find that most people that use negative timenudge are having great difficulty with their connection anyway and they are just trying to stabilise their connection out.

The jerkiness is probably all caused by their conn. ie the server don't know where you are all the time and this appears as jerking.

If you don't agree then please explain exactly what you think timenudge does.

Nah jiz, when its negative, it doesn't pose a problem at all, on a few conditions:

1) its a slight negative value (usually up to -25)
2) its not always changing and especially changing in big steps (say -15 to -110 and back to -50 back to -75 etc..)

The second is what causes the problems, although the first can too when its too large..

This is just from past experience..

just play harshg twice.. it plays differently each way and two of the other maps arent truly identical anyway, if we're gonna bitch.. then we could bitch about colours, and stuff.. just put more nonsymmetrical maps in and play em each side. Just needs the locations fixing.
