Tribes (1) players know how to vote, its only the newbies that don't. I wouldn't worry about team killers not being kicked. It simply needs one Tribes (1) player to start a vote then everyone just goes YES YES YES! as we've both found out to our cost.

Ok so iv'e only been playing on 48 player servers, so i might be a little off on this. But one thing iv'e noticed, nearly every vote get a pass:( The people that get kicked iv'e not even noticed them doing anything wrong. Iv'e just come froma server where about 15 of the 24 players on are side were just fucking around, eg shooting at any spawned vehicle as soon as it comes up, others were jumping in bombers and letting all the bombs go at the vehicle point, thus killing all there team:( There was one prick even standing over the back of the point on a hill, shooting his team with a laser rifle when they were at the console. Not one was kicked, beacause they were all at it. Give power to the people and it gets abused, it allways has and allways will.

Ahhh ... thats better ...

Nice Mr Deathace has now changed the server config again so TD is on by default. The voting option is still enabled so if a majority of people on a server want to turn it off they can.

Meatballs: Turning TD on is not a newbie unfriendly action, it's just the way the game should be played. The main gripe that no TD causes olde-Tribes1 players is that if a turret is deployed somewhere silly there is no way to remove it. We know that we will end up getting killed by our own team all the time but that's life. People who play disrespectfully will get kicked from servers, most people will only vote yes if they have some reason (effing MPB joyriders get me kicking).

Once the kind Mr Crunchy whisks us up bwbase mod I'm sure things will be better and public admns will be able to warn and then take action against troublemakers.

Xtro: SMFO you skiver, thats absolutely no excuse. I want to see a worksheet from NTL explaining how long you were offline and a kidney from your first born to prove it isn't part of your sick imagination. j/k :)

Velvet: WB - now don't I remember you running Newbie Academys about 2 years ago ....

Aye, good to see you again m8 :)
The 'newbie acadamys' were abused by peeps not wanting to learn, just dick around, as I recall.
Most of the stuff they need to know is already on the net, eg
http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=39377&pagenumber=1
cracking bomber tutorial
http://www.dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_2587_1.html
basic and advanced strats guides.
What newbies can't be shown, is how to work as part of a team. that has to be experienced. Until they do, we'll probably see idiots tk'ing a lot :(

Bollox to BW. There servers are full of newbies anyway, I can't be bothered sitting here arguing with a bunch of clueless counter strike players for admins who haven't a fooking clue how to play T2 anyway. There are tons of UK/European servers around, all good quality that have much better players on then BW has.

ARSEHOLES ................

All this newbie shit really anoyes me, like i said i mainly play Q3 (if u dont like it fuck off), and if i use that as a guide most of the ppl who go on about "newbies" are shit players anyway.

If some one is doing somthing wrong, try telling them NICELY the chances are they will listen and try not to do it, of course if you simply turn round and say "u lame newbie twat wtf ........" they will ignor you and do it again and again and again.

Yet again i must point out that t2 as only been out for a few days, t2 unlike t1 has actually had a bit of publicicty so you cant really complain about the fact that some ppl dont no how to play the game properly, iam affraid you will have to live with it for a month or so .......

Personally if i worked at bw id be temped to leave it as it is ust to fuck ulot off.

Also remeber bw is now game/eb so they dont really give a shit about the hardcore types (ie most of you), you are a small minorty and the newbies rules now :)

PS

what a few plonkers say here does not alter my buying patters, ffs q3 had enuff arses in it initially :)

i will get the game, its just i dont see the point in running out and buying the game when its as buggy as hell and no one nos how to play it.

ill get it in a month or so when its settled down and sas as some nice guide out for it, seeing as iam a ffa type with a bit of tdm thrown in ill need it :)

PLUS B&W is out at the moment so if i did get it it would only gather dust :)

I take it that you will be vacating this forum then?
I can see your point about TD, but your manner towards other users of this forum, esp. BW staff, and your attitude to newbies mean that on the whole this forum and the BW tribes servers are probably better off without you.

The worst thing about on-line games is, in many cases, the people who play them. You are a prime example of this. On-line gaming as a whole would be a lot more enjoyable if people with your attitude were entirely absent.

Hmm. This is not painting a rosy picture of the state of Tribes 2 at the moment. I think I'll leave it for a while to settle down before I venture on again... :(

I'm stunned, really.

Tribes is a very good game, technically, which over the years has grown into a very deep tactical team game. From my point of view, a "newbie" joining a Tribes 1 game would have a very hard time because of two main factors:
1. The wealth of weapons and roles available
2. The special tricks and methods you can learn

Dynamix knew about this. They knew that skiing and other clever techniques were quite hard to master, and they wanted to create something that had a little more universal feel. Like any company, they wanted their new product to have a larger user base, so they made the sequel as friendly as possible, and spent a lot of time creating tutorials.

And then I find this thread. Buried deep in amongst all the other chats about how people are helping each other with patch problems, and how fantastic the new vehicles are, we have the most disgraceful behaviour from people who classify themselves as "tribes experts". Several of you have said words to the effect of "sod the new players, they can fuck off back to cs or q3a". Who cares if your community lives or dies, with that attitude I think people will definately stay away.

Perhaps many of you disgruntled people are still angry that the servers weren't fine tuned to your liking, but do try to bear in mine that there are REAL PEOPLE doing the work, not faceless automatons. They get hurt and defensive when they get such childish comments, and I think they've shown admirable restraint so far.

Remember, as Deathace pointed out, he's working on it. As far as having public servers identical to the set up of league servers, surely you all need to revisit this? Are you going to have TRIBES 2 league servers set up exactly the same as TRIBES 1 league servers? Or are you going to be open minded and use your community liasons and mess around with the settings for a while, so you can then all make up your mind?

Newbies are the life blood of online games, and attitudes like those I've seen from many of the participants of this thread make me despair for the future. Please think carefully about your actions in future, you may be seperate from the person physically, but you're still communicating with them.

Hmm I have seen some odd communities in my time, and this is one of them. Online games are really about communities, and am certainly disappointed by what I see here. Is it compulsory to be an asshole, or is that just something you learn when you get past the status of being a n00bie?

Atm I'll just assume this forum isn't a fair representation of the T2 gamers out there, because so far I've only met nice people on the servers (I feel that won't last long tho, must have just been lucky).

OMG, the game's been released for less than a week and already there's a "l33tist" attitude :(

Of COURSE newbies are going to do stupid things - they're NEWBIES, that's what they do...that's all they do...they cannot be bargained with...they cannot be reasoned with...(insert rest of M.Biens Speech to L.Hamilton in Terminator).

For every one of you who has posted "ffs wanky mortar the flag tactics" and "shitty turret placement" - I'd LOVE to see a demo of the first time you played - because you probably made EXACTLY the same mistakes.

If you want a good game, go join a clan and play in a league...if you want mayhem, stick 30+ people (a large percentage of which will have NEVER played T1 before - due to it being the crappy B-side to Starseige Universe) on the same server with TD turned on.

I'm amazed that you think that you can sway the server liasons opinion by basically insulting them - do you find this approach works in your day-to-day routine?

"ffs you stupid fucking copper, the limit here should be 60, you c\/nt...what do you mean exactly..'arrested'?"

Give it some time - and stop being so l33tist about the whole thing - remove your cranium from your rectum and give the newbies a chance.

some valid points there m8. its the same with every game on the planet; once you've been playin for a while you assume every1 else also knows whats goin on. i'm sure most of us could be accused of that at some time or another. the game is only a week old, n00bs need to be helped not flamed. how is the community gonna grow otherwise??

remember, no-one is born with the knowledge

If the best counter argument you have is "you haven't even played T1 before" and "stfu" - I think it's safe to say that the argument has already been won.

...think about it.

What do you mean "again"? Having trouble counting as well as coming up with decent arguments?

My points are still valid - I knew who you were directing your comments at, but that's not the point...you can't win arguments by telling people to "stfu" or insulting them. Well perhaps you can if you are 5 I suppose...

I do jump in quickly, but I do it with such style and panache...

Please note that most of the people here who are tribes 1 vets DO think newbies are important and before posting here have probably been in the following situation.

When a newbie sact like an idiot after having been explained teh rules or given a few pointers. I can't think of ANY T1 vets who would instantly start slagging off newbies the FIRST time they screw up, we did that too but we learnt. What annoys the vets is when people screw up constantly by making the same mistakes of just acting stupidly (ie, satchel charging own team, Deathmatching in CTF etc etc).

"Well no Mr B, as I was backing up the pronewbie arguments"

erm no, as far as I could tell you weren't backing-up anything, just insulting the opposition - and if you want people with the anti-newbie attitude to become more and more prevalent, just keep winding them up.

"and you were slating me for it...that isn't style, that's Dreadnutism"

If you can explain to me what "Dreadnutism" means I'll reply.
