A couple of weeks ago i asked the good people of fh to recommend ps2 games. The name Final Fantasy came up quite often so i decided to give it a go. My question is, which one of the ff games is the best? and why?

Oh and a.... 1 more thing! After reading some articles about GTA Vice City, they have given me the impression that it does not have the aimbot thing (that san andreas and gta3 have). You know the one that makes you aim your nearest target by pressing some button :(. Could anyone confirm this?

Any help will be much appreacited!

As for Vice City, you just aim I it goes to the nearest target, unless you have a gun like the AK/Sniper Rifle/M4A1

Rest are you point and click :)

Pesonly I would play

-FF6 (SNES/PS1)
-FF7 (PS1/PC)
-FF9 (PS1)
-FF10 (PS2)

IF you are into old skool games like FF6 which I think is brillient then Give Crono Trigger and crono cross a go both brillent games

yes FFX is the one with the Monster called SIN. ald has blitzball

IF you like online RPG that are PVE online then I would reccomend FFXI as well.

I felt FF8 out because well tbh, altho I liked the story the play system was just bloddy awful once you get used to it the game is so easy its unreal.

I have just started playing Final Fantasy IX again which is really good old skool system,

A no brainer; Get FF7, ps1 game but will work fine on ps2 :)

The other ff's are excellent but can't really come close to the story and characters of ff7.

Yup FF7 first imo :)

The graphics will look VERY out of date by todays standards, but its a great game with a fantastic story.

I think only the characters might look a bit dodgy, but the FMV's and 2D Backgrounds will look stunning as always :p And even the soundtrack omg :)

this all depends on the gamer tbh, I prefer FF6 for the SNES, and if you never played FF7 b4 now getting into the game with the dated gfx might me hard unless you like retro games like me xD

FF7 all the way - best RPG ever made... 100+ hours at least if you do it fully

I would recommend starting at 7, then goto 8, 9 and 10 after, but really you can play any in any order, because they are all different storys.

7-9 are PSX versions, so the graphics are quite out of date, but if you can look past that, your in for a great story.

10 is the first FF for the PS2. If you find 7-9 hard to play because of the graphics, then I would definetly recommend this. Its a really good story, and the ending is just fantastic!

If graphics really really don't bother you, then I would also recommend getting the earlier ones, which iirc you can get PSX versions now, that I think are called Anthologies (1-3) and something else (4-6).

FF7 best final fantasy imo with amazing story and FF7 closely followed by either 9 or 10 imo... i think 10 has the most secrets/things to do tbh but thats just me, FF7 is pretty easy to finish and unlock everything but by far the best story:england:

Gonna buck the trend a little, but Final Fantasy VII isn't as great as everyone says. Good storyline, lots to do, and it is a very good game indeed, but after playing other games I think there's better now. Game graphics are obviously poor now and I have gone off the whole Materia idea.

Final Fantasy IX is perhaps my favourite of the lot as it was an easier storyline to get in my view, and I really liked nearly everything about it. Some characters seemed to get too little a chance to shine (Freyja is the one I am mainly thinking of.)

Final Fantasy X has the best storyline of the lot, but it is way too linear for my liking. I didn't like the fact that there was no map to wander around, that you just flew from location to location.

Final Fantasy X-2 gets a lot of stick, but it's not that bad of a system. I don't think that it deserves all of the bad press from people that it has gotten. It's fun in certain parts, but some of it is pretty poor.

Final Fantasy VIII gets a big fat ugh from me. Hated having to draw magic from your opponents, hated junctioning magic to abilities and being scared to use spells, hated that you had to hunt monsters to get items to upgrade your weapons, the characters were all too alike in skills.

I would go with Final Fantasy IX first and then go for X and then VII.

idd if you don't like the old retro style like game gfx like someone think UDA said, then FF7 probably may not be as enjoyable as one of the later ff's such a ff9 which has a good story better gfx and some nice chars to play with.

I played Final Fantasy VII almost to the day it was released and I loved it, and I still think it is a damned fine game. Just over time I think that the game has been over taken by later Final Fantasy games for quality.

I enjoyed FF8 with the whole idea of draining magic

The storyline sucked a bit though

my main quible with it was, not knowing who the big 'enemy' was half of the time :p but the draining magic was fun, not like you needed to use it to win, was just as easy to summon a gf or power up strength and physically attack :p

get them all and play them in order, all of them are great games, except maybe X2, though as a bonus to 10 it isnt too bad.

the best was probably 8 imo, though at the time 7 was ground breaking and still an awsome game.

7 clearly the best one, 10 is not far behind it though imo. Liked ff8 alot the first time i played it but as a previous poster said, once u get to know it it gets way to easy but it's still great. FF9 is just horrible tbh, fucking useless characters, except for Kuja, who just seemed like a bad Sephiroth copy when u think about it. :(
9 is the only one of the FF games i doubt i will ever play again, was a real disappointment!

Loved FF7 and still one my top games of all time.
if you like to go back to the SNES ff6, crono trigger, or even a game i loved Screat of mana loved it and lots of hours played on it.
but if you can wait and be happy to shell out for a PS3 then they are doing FF7 on there and the gfx look wonderfull for it.
but if you like to get lost in a game most the FF will do it for u

I know you wont have a chance to get this but Final Fantasy Tactics on the ps1 was brilliant.

I had a chipped machine and the copy I had was American, dont think it was released here :(

But it was fantastic, gave a new slant on the ff series :)
