I've managed to scrap together the money to replace my old 17" CRT, which is now starting to fail. However my budget is £200 :(. Just need something I can play Battlefield 2 on and watch the occasional DVD.

I've looked around Dabs and even Amazon are doing some cheapish LCD monitors. Options I've found so far:

Acer 17" Acer AL1716S 12ms LCD TFT (DABS) £145
Samsung 19" SM913V Analogue LCD TFT Sliver. (DABS) £183
Samsung SM913NS, 19" Silver (AMAZON) £185
Acer AL1916ws 19" Widescreen TFT, 1440 x 900, 16.7M, 150°, 300 cd/m2, 500:1, 8ms, (AMAZON) £190 (But widescreen + gaming, would they mix well?)

What's your view on the above? If you had to pick one of the four, or are there another alternatives within the £200 price range?

My GFX card supports DVI, although prices seem to shoot up compared to the old analoge option. Is the performace difference worth the extra £££?

Couple of folks I know have just bought Acer's and have found them terrible.
I have a samsung 913B (same as what you posted but with DVI) - great monitor for the price. Works brilliantly in games too, which was a suprise to start with.

Gone for the Samsung SM913NS, 19" Silver (AMAZON) £185 option. Now just got to survive 5 weeks on peanuts, but worth it to save my eyes :)

I've got a SM930BF, it's yummy. Only thing is if it's got MagicBright stuff you may see white ghosting when pixels go from one colour to a similar colour. The MagicBright thing makes all pixels jump up to white and fall back to the colour they want (falling back is quicker than going up)
