Well thank you for that nugget of wisdom. "hi I'm here to say nothing and have succeeded thus while using contrived words"

My words are not contrived, if you had cared to read them. Furthermore, it is rather hypocritical and duplicitous of you to make such a comment when one remembers some of the arguments we have had on this forum.

Thankfully I no longer have the energy I once possessed, nor the inclination to argue with fools, for I have subjected myself much too often to the infuriating monotomy of internet squabbles. I grow weary of it. I shall abstain.

Its OK, you can go back to modelling those amazing underpants/cycling shorts, you can even get your mum to take the picture again.

Do you even know what contrived means?

Clearly not as your proving its use further by calling me a hypocrit for having had arguments with you....... which has nothing to do with anything...... so it's neither hypocritical nor duplicitous.

I am not Thugs. That is, and always has been, false. The assertion that I am is clearly an attempt by you to troll and me and provoke me into a reaction. It is not 2008 anymore Raven.

It's funny that he was quiet for literally years and then made a grand post about how he'd abstain from entering an argument nobody thought he was anywhere near in the first place.

To explain in words that you are able to understand: It was hypocritical and duplicitous of you to criticise me for a rather trivial and, I will admit, conceitful contribution to a thread, when our previous arguments involved no attempt at debate on your side and mostly personal insults directed at me.

Arguing with you is like cutting your dick off with a rusty knife. painful, pointless and morbidly entertaining for everyone else

I see you have nothing to counter my post, which gives yet further credence to my argument.

Can we start a new thread to argue in instead of derailing this one? I'm bored and we can charge people to watch.

Meh, its a spam thread with a bit of self promotion, it's fine.

Any question thread should be resolved in 5 posts or 5 minutes, whichever comes first, after that its fair game.

*and actually, I would like to apologise to @Scouse for having a pop at him, he is free to do whatever :)

Unless people who might be able to answer the question aren't around and some knobber wades in and derails the thread with his own brand of antagonistic rubbish. It sure is lucky that that didn't happen in this instance, though.

Including die of a heart attack??!

Seriously tho. If I could find a less stress-inducing more morally acceptable investment with similar return I'd seriously look at it...

That's gambling, not investment.

You have 2 choices.
1. Stop trolling and just post sensibly
2. Get banned

Choose for yourself or I will choose for you.

Scouse I never thought you'd go for stereotypes :(

My old landlord had two houses in Sneinton which he owned since 1985 and hes rented to students. He had a problem once. He also couldn't get anyone for 3 of those years so he handed them to an agency to get private tenants who fucked the houses up massively. (With no benefits - they were professionals)

Is now not a bad time to buy to let because of the house prices due to decline due to Brexit?

@Raven taking a pop at him here was pretty childish to be honest, go for it over the random spam thread or do it tongue in cheek, but I mean this forum is getting toxic and boring with the amount of shit that's being hurled around, pls stop.

If Scouse wants to be a capitalist pig dog then let him. He's a champagne socialist so there's no point calling him out on obvious things.

I'm curious about the sneering attitude towards landlords shown on here; if there were more of them eventually supply would outstrip demand and prices would fall, so we should be collectively encouraging investment in BTL property. I'd also agree with Scouse that pensions for most of us are useless. Disagree with Scouse about students though; they are more tolerant of faults and pretty much guaranteed income; friend of mine here in Dublin who has lots of property investments has been buying into dedicated student apartment blocks lately; she reckons its a really safe bet.

Who knows...all I can say is my mate who has over a hundred properties is pulling out of dss rentals , because his bank is pressuring him too.
They want him to sell cheap smaller properties in rough areas and move into big expensive houses.

well no wonder there aren't enough houses for people to buy when some greedy cunt has 100 of them.

@DaGaffer couldnt you argue that the problem is that people are more likely to buy affordable housing to rent out to people?

So therefore people are less likely to get on the property ladder, unless you think the British approach to owning your house is just unrealistic now and we need a change in attitudes.

If that's the case we need a German model where we have landlords of numerous properties, and prices go down - down massively from what they are now.

The quantity of affordable housing for people to get on the ladder is getting smaller and smaller. The problem is not just buy-to-letters but housing companies not building them and the government not making it happen. Buy-to-letters just make a difficult situation impossible.

I saw a quote from some clever guy, can't remember his name or exactly what he said but;

"In the 1960s I bought my first London flat for £20k, I earned 5k, Now the average cost is 700k and the average salary for that job is £25k"

And while its not as stupid as London, it is a nationwide problem and before long the only way people will be able to own a home is through inheritance. Naturally, the government are cool with that because they can double dip on tax.

Of course the German model is the way to go; realistically "getting on the property ladder" is no longer a reasonable aspiration for lots of people, and nor should it be. But, there needs to be a change in how people are allowed to rent as well; in Germany you have the right to very long term leases; that certainty isn't available in the UK. However, even without that in place, my original point stands; if you can raise the overall volume of rented accommodation, prices will go down. Of course what's really needed is new builds and lots of them (and that's true irrespective of whether they are rented or owned) but hey, it'll all get better when you throw all the immigrants out, right?

Quite fitting.

Rents to rise faster than house prices, says Savills - BBC News

Problem I can see happening if our Government doesn't police renting is that houses will be stripped out of the ownership of the people and we'll just have a massive renting market where the landlords will just take advantage and charge the earth for it.

But yeah, if we kick all the immigrants out, Jesus will come back.
