A sad day, Geocities the site that brought free personal websites to the masses is being closed down by Yahoo. It is a shame to see a 15 year old project end but they were pioneers in thier time and despite hosting alot of crap they will be fondly remembered yet sadly missed.

Every memory I have of it was that it was always slow and hosted the most colossal collection of utter shite since someone decided Cheryl Cole was talented

it was a learning enviornment for a lot of ppl .. ofc it was filled with crap .. my first webbie was crap im sure everyones is .. but it gave a taste of what could be done with little technical know how, gave ppl a platform to learn simple html and im sure it has lead to a lot of ppl making a good career out of the learning path that started there.

Just because its not a child of the 2009 web generation and wasnt the most modern fastest thing out there doesnt mean it didnt have value

But i guess your just going on the speed you can find fapping material in it

Well said, it brought webspace to the masses and enabled 10's of millions of users to have homepages or play with basic web design for free.
