Bugzy learnt an important lesson today - popularity counts!

Indeed it does.

Unfortunately I have not been drafted for the top prefect team in my school. I am disgruntled but I'm taking it like a man and have kept my opinions to myself (and to you guys :d)

Basically - the popularity vote came into play and some people who have done very little for the school (a lot less than I) have managed the top prefect positions. I did not.

Fortunately, some of those in the team did thoroughly deserve to be in there - as they have done a tremendous amount for the school.

The worse thing is not in knowing you lost, but knowing you lost unfairly.

A lesson for anyone younger than me in here -> try to be popular - its one half of success.

I also got rejected from Eton College too!

@Bahumat - I don't know the attitude towards prefects in other schools but for us it's a very prestigious thing - prefects get a lot of respect and have a large involvement in the running of the school.

Not at all.

I do not mind getting picked for the role if I know that those who are competent do the roles instead. It's more the fact that those who got picked, do nothing for the school (or very little) but got the advantage in their popularity.

I am not overly bothered I didn't get it - I am bothered I didn't get it because of reasons that well - shouldn't influence - even though they do obviously.

Oh and headboy/senior prefect roles are very important! Our headboy last year did C's and D's in his AS-levels but still got an offer at Imperial College - because his headboy status interested them a lot.

Anywho - I suspect the posts will soon turn sour - so I'll retreat at this point now I've vented a bit of frustration.

Fact is, that's how the real world works Bugz. I mean, look at the presidential elections i the US, one couldn't by any means say that the "most qualified" got the job.

That's why, the good workers, smart thinkers and all those "hard working" people work in the background, making sure the most popular ones don't f*ck up too royally.

Actually no, you don't. Your given the ILLUSION that you have a hand in the running of the school. The decisions have already been made, there just presented in such a way as to make you think the same as they staff do.

Its called manipulation, and adults have been doing it for centuries, and were realy good at it. You can't be a teacher these days without "Lying Twat" being on you resume.

as for Bugz, tough luck mate, but as some have said, it's often down to politics unfortunatly, but politics arent always as simple as majority popularity.
