Anyway, yeah Buffy's cool, season 6 was superb I reckon - dark, grim, brooding and did I mention grim? Great stuff. Post season 6, hmm, they've left the door open for it to go back to easy scooby-gang style stuff again in some ways but I doubt that'll happen. I'm hoping they carry on making life tough for them, it's much more interesting that way :)

Strange, I have never ever seen a single episode of this programme.

Ah now this I did see, Doctor Who and the Trouser Snake, he coats his groin in engine oil and tries to get K9 to lick it all off.

It's not quite as pleasurable when he can only lick with a raygun :/

I prefer 'Doctor Who does Peri up the gump'

Or was it just a dream ???

*spooky music*

Still needs engine oil :)

(as an aside have you ever seen a Doctor Who skit done with "spitting image" puppets called "Auf Weidersehen Doc", done when the BBC announced it was cancelling the show ?)

TBH, I found the "speech" that Faith (in Buffy's body) give Spike at The Bronze, where she says things like:

"I've got muscles you haven't even dreamt of"

and

"Feel you popping like warm champagne"

far more explicit than the actual rumpy-pumpy scenes myself.

:)

I'm interested to see what direction s7 takes, given that the main premise (ie vampire with a soul) has been done before.

Season Six was incredible as far as I'm concerned, and certainly ranks as one of my favourites so far behind Season Three. However, Joss really tested and alienated certain areas of his fan base in pushing the storyline in the direction that him and his team of writers did. The theme for this season was all about "growing up", and the harsh realities of life. To this end, it centered more than ever around the characters themselves and their coming to terms with life's responsibilities.

And therein lies one of the 'problems' with the show as a whole - if you'd never seen it before, but started to watch from Season Six, I think you'd have a hard time enjoying the show or at least even making any sense out of the storyline. Those of us that have been watching from the beginning are the lucky ones, and our enjoyment of the show is all the more because of it.

As far as it being OTT as far as sex-scenes go, I can certainly understand the points and criticisms being made, but I don't think it's inappropriate; You have to bear in mind that the vast majority of viewers of the show are aged between 18-34.

But anyway, what will Season Seven have in store? Joss has stated that he wants to get "back to basics", and as this is possibly the last season ever it's an understandable decision - he can't really take too many chances with the plot or make any earth-shattering changes at this point in the show's lifetime.

So basically you've got the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High-School, with Dawn starting there as a freshman, and with Buffy taking on a job at the school (yep, no more Doublemeat Palace!) you can guess how that's going to work out - especially if you remember the scene from the last episode of S6 where Buffy acknowledges Dawn's power and ability to look after herself.

As for Spike, well yeah - the "vampire with a soul" storyline has been done before, albeit sort of the other way around. It's going to take an awful lot of persuasion on his behalf before Buffy even speaks to him though, considering he tried to rape her at one point. Plus, he's going to have to come to terms with what's actually happened to him before he can even begin to try to convince anyone else he's changed for the better (if that is the case).

Another interesting rumour for S7 is the return of Mark Metcalf - he was the guy who played "The Master" in S1, so who knows where that's going to go if it's true. It's going to be an interesting season either way :)

Sorry , but I have seen the odd episode, and I find it utterley banale and pointless in the way only American "teen" programmes can be.
Facile. Theres a word that somes it up for me.

Sorry again :( Maybe Im too old .

Unfortunately Spike having returned to the "previous human" will have to deal with the fact that he's been killing for a couple of hundred years.

But he probably won't because if he does that, he can't shag Buffy up the backside.

Been watching it from the first episode in S1.

Fucking love it and Angel, although I think Angel was better up until the point where Connor came back & over on BtVS when Willow went for the black look.

Overall S6 of Buffy was poor compared to previous seasons, it became largely Dawsons Creek meets a largely slay-free Sunnydale :(

That said it did have a corking last few episodes leading up to and including the season finalé.

Whereas Angel was fucking superb this season, as I said until Connor came back, and ended with a rather weak-ish finalé. :/

**SPOILERS FOR BUFFY SEASON 7**

Dawn becomes the new Slayer, and whether Buffy will live to see this is truly debatable, as she does not produce a Slayer upon death now, as she's already died 3 times in the series iirc (Her death producing Slayer was Kendra iirc, after Buffy died fighting the Master in S1). Will Faith die to make Dawn the Slayer? Possible...

Some excellent responses. :)

For my own part I actually enjoyed Season 6 the most out of all that have been made (and I've seen them all), but then I'm a big Spike fan - I happen to think both James Marsters and his portrayal of Spike raises the bar in every scene he's in, and Season 6 is nothing if not "Spike-heavy".

What Mr^B has said also rings very true as well, Buffy (the show) has got progressively more explicit as the seasons have gone on, both in physical violence, sexual language/content. It was actually somewhat bizarre to watch some of the earlier season episodes and hear the comment from Xander following Ms Calendar saying "Today we're going to do.... Buffy" (after being interrupted by her) when he says "Did I fall asleep already?". Nice wholesome innuendo.

Some of the things said in the later seasons, as Mr^B has already said, are often more explicit than actual sex scenes themselves and are pretty unusual for a "teen" show. The closest thing I can compare it to on that level is "Grosse Point" (which I don't ever watch, honest).

But then, they are growing up so it follows that their sexual discussions should become more frank. I actually think this is a conscious decision made by Joss and his crew, and it appears to come off well. Having said that, when you watch the very first episode of Season 6 (Bargaining Pt 1) and hear direct explicit reference made to demon-human sexual incompatibilities between males and females - you can't help but shivver a bit.

Season 7 should be very interesting in any event. I would be happier if Giles was back in the show, he brings a certain level of clarity and structure to the proceedings just by his presence. I also hope Spike isn't completely neutered, and that we don't end up with a hackneyed re-run of the brooding vampire with a soul routine (ala Angel) because as good as JM is he hasn't got the angst-ridden abilitah of David Boreanez. Boreanez eats, sleeps and exudes angst from every orifice.

I'll also be interested to see how open-ended he leaves the show, and whether or not he kills off any core characters.

The best possible season outcome for me would be the following:
  • Spike back with a soul (I'd rather him have neither a soul nor a chip but that quite plainly isn't going to happen), chip doesn't function - doesn't brood, still retains some semblance of evilness.
  • Faith back (do I need to bother giving any reason for this?). Ideally Faith would be even more dirty and lesbian-inclined than she appeared to be in S3+, if its even possible.
  • Giles back - brings order to chaos and a certain amount of adult clarity and guidance to the show
  • Riley killed one or more times, possibly tortured. By Spike.
  • Lots of Angel crossovers
  • Darla back (resurrected for the 2nd time)
  • Some kind of more-than-one-episode crossover involving Wolfram and Hart would be very interesting also.

It is. I tried to watch an episode once. I switched over to watch Changing Rooms as it was slightly less boring.

Giles is back for S7, as he and Willow take a trip to Engerland so she can clear her head after the climax of S6.
